Director Yeon Sang Ho, renowned for his work on Train to Busan, Hellbound, and Parasyte: The Grey, is all set for his first English-language project. Produced by Appian Way Productions and WOW POINT, 35th Street will be an action-horror thriller.
Director Yeon expressed to Maeil Business Newspaper, "I've always wanted to challenge myself with an English film." He continued, "It's not a commissioned script. It's entirely original. I collaborated with Ryu Yong Jae, the writer of Parasyte: The Grey, to write the script and put effort into every aspect of the planning. The genre is action horror."
Director Yeon also said, "I went through a long process of pitching to American production companies and studios, and though there's still a long way to go, I'm truly happy and excited to take the first step."
He added, "I am determined to do my best to create a cornerstone in the market where talented creators in Korea can freely demonstrate their creativity not only in Korea but also overseas."
TriStar Pictures' 35th Street is currently in the pre-production stage. WOW POINT, headquartered in Seoul, is a global content production company that produces original local content in Korea, the US, and Japan. It gave the world Netflix originals such as The Bequeathed and Parasyte: The Grey.
Shooting of 35th Street is scheduled to begin in the second half of next year.
