Yoo Yeon Seok teases an extraordinary transformation in the upcoming TVING original series A Bloody Lucky Day.
A Bloody Lucky Day narrates the story of Oh Taek (played by Reborn Rich actor Lee Sung Min), an ordinary taxi driver who unwittingly embarks on a harrowing journey when he picks up a passenger, Geum Hyuk Soo (Yoo Yeon Seok), who offers a substantial sum to go to Mokpo, only to realize that he is a serial killer.
In the first still cut, Geum Hyuk Soo is seen stopping Oh Taek's taxi. He wears a cap to avoid getting noticed like he is trying to hide from someone.
In another still, the taxi's light, glowing red amidst the pitch-black darkness, and Geum Hyuk Soo's eyes filled with rage and madness add to the tension.
Yoo Yeon Seok shares the reason for choosing to play the character of Geum Hyuk Soo, saying, "I have played kind and warm characters in my previous medical dramas and melodramas, so I had the desire to show a new side of myself that I had not shown before."
Geum Hyuk Soo is a psychopath filled with madness. Commenting about his character, Yoo Yeon Seok said, "Since he is a serial killer who lacks emotional connection and does not feel pain, it was challenging to have empathy or synchronize with him like [I do] with other characters. When I looked at a lot of interviews with real psychopathic criminals, a common characteristic was that they spoke with their eyes clear and open. I thought it was the same with the character Geum Hyuk Soo in the webtoon, so I tried to express the chilling aspects with innocent eyes when acting."
Part 1 (episodes 1-6) of A Bloody Lucky Day will be released on November 24. It will be made available on Paramount+.
