Son of Phra Horatibodee, King Narai's astrologer, Por Date had been betrothed to Mae Ying Karakade since he was young by their fathers who were good friends. He hated Mae Ying Karakade because she was an insolent, haughty, lazy and jealous woman, and he tried to delay his marriage to her for so long it became the talk of the neighbourhood.
Things took a sudden and surprising turn when a sacred mantra chanted by his father and himself struck Mae Ying Karakade and she emerged out of it with with a completely new personality.
