Golden Spoon Rules

  • The Golden Spoon can only be used three (3) times; and the owner have a chance to choose.
    • 1st switch: 30 days limit
      • Must be within the same age (maybe ±5 years?)
      • Must eat 3 meals in the target's home to activate.
      • After 30 days, the owner have a chance to choose (1st chance/choice)
    • 2nd switch: 12 months
      • Must eat 1 meal
        • on their original home (to reverse the switch); or
        • target's home, to keep the switch active
      • After 12 months, the owner have a chance to choose (2nd chance/choice)
    • 3rd switch: 10 years
      • Probably the same rules as the “2nd time/chance”
      • After 10 years, the owner will be given one last chance to choose (Final chance/choice)
      • Then it will be permanent.
  • The mysterious old lady will appear to them after each switch expires
    • The old lady will recharge the power of the Golden Spoon.
  • The source and the target must not meet their original biological parents during their birthdays.
    • If they do, they will switch back until the strike of midnight that same day (it can be less than 24 hours).
  • DNA is transferred.
    • Their DNA will not match with their new parents; or their children (if the owner and target already have children).
  • Talents, skills, preferences, habits, knowledge, are also transferred.
  • Ailments, sickness, disease, are also transferred.
  • The mysterious old lady can only be seen by people with a strong desire to escape their current fate.
  • If another person uses the Golden Spoon, they will acquire the memories of the owner.
    • This is why it is important for them to hide their Golden Spoon.
  • When another owner used a Golden Spoon, the other Golden Spoon owners are also affected by the change in “history”.
    • If they see a Golden Spoon, they'll just recognise it, but have no knowledge of who else were switching.
      • They can speculate and piece things together to find out who is the Golden Spoon owner and the switch victim.
  • There is always some form of punishment for the owner who used their Golden Spoon.

Golden Spoon owners

  • Kwon Yohan
    • He stole the life of Hwang Hyeon Do
    • The Real Hwang Hyeon Do, as Fake Kwon Yohan, was murdered by the Real Kwon Yo Han, as the Fake Hwang Hyeon Do (ep. 15)
    • His Golden Spoon is hidden in Alex Book's private collections.
    • His punishment (ep 16): He'll live the rest of his life immobile.
  • Geum Suk Ja
    • District councillor of Gangnam
    • She had no idea her first love was the husband of their housekeeper.
      • She used her Golden Spoon to find her first love.
      • Her first love sold her Golden Spoon.
    • It is unknown who she made the switch with.
      • Theory 1: She switched with her housekeeper.
        • If this is the case, her first love was probably contacted by the housekeeper, who is now the Gangnam district councillor.
        • In other words, her plan backfired.
      • Theory 2: She switched with random people, so she can escape the watchful eyes of her family and find her first love.
    • The whereabouts of her Golden Spoon is unknown, as her first love sold it.
    • She is living as Kim Jin Sook, the life she switched with.
    • Her punishment (ep 16): She'll live as a poor woman.
  • Jeong Na Ra
    • She stole the life of Oh Yeo Jin
    • Oh Yeo Jin died of her illness because after the switch, the support she needed stopped (can't afford).
    • Her Golden Spoon is hidden in her safe.
    • Her punishment (ep 16): It was hinted that her daughter will be sold off by her real/biological father.
  • Lee Seung Chun
    • He stole the life of Hwang Tae Yong
    • The real Hwang Tae Yong is now aware of what the real Lee Seung Chun did
    • As of episode 15, his Golden Spoon was returned to him by Real Tae Yong
    • Episode 16: The gardener in Hwang's residence used his own Golden Spoon and switched with Fake Tae Yong (now permanent at this point since his deadline passed).
    • He is now living as Fake Han Seong Hun.
      • He doesn't remember his original identity as Fake Hwang Tae Yong and as Real Lee Seung Chun because he was the target of Han Seong Hun's Golden Spoon. Only the owner of the Golden Spoon can remember.
    • His punishment (ep 16): He will never recover his real memories. He'll live as Han Seong Hun, the gardener.
  • Hwang Tae Yong
    • Chose not to use his Golden Spoon
    • Real Seung Chun replaced his Golden Spoon with a fake.
      • The real Golden Spoon is hidden in Fake Tae Yong's safe.
      • Episode 15: Real Seung Chun returned the real Golden Spoon of Real Tae Yong.
    • Episode 15: The biological father of Tae Yong is the Real Hwang Yeon Do
      • He was murdered by the Fake Hwang Yeon Do
    • His punishment: None. He did not use his Golden Spoon.
  • Han Seong Hun
    • The gardener in Hwang's home.
    • He used his Golden Spoon and switched with Fake Tae Yong (now permanent at this point since his deadline passed).
    • He unfortunately died when he drank the poisoned juice.
    • The whereabouts of his Golden Spoon is unknown. (But it's useless anyway, anyone who is not an owner will only see the owner's memories.)
    • His punishment (ep 16): He died right after switching because he drank the poisoned juice.

Other details…

  • Alex Book
    • Possibly an ordinary businessman and collector
    • He has a Golden Spoon in his private collections
      • It was sold to him by Kwon Yohan after he switched with Hwang Hyeon Do.
    • Alex Book probably have no idea what the Golden Spoon is.
  • Na Joo Hee
    • As of episodes 13 and 14, she is fully aware of the Golden Spoon and switching
    • She is also aware her former best friend, Jeong Na Ra, stole the life of Oh Yeo Jin
  • Real Hwang Tae Yong
    • As of episodes 13 and 14, he is fully aware of the Golden Spoon and switching

Unknowns…

  • If the source or the target already died and the effect of the switch was reversed because one met their original parents on their birthday…
    • It is unknown if the switch will happen.
    • It is unknown how the memories/history will change. Example: Jeong Na Ra and Oh Yeo Jin
      • Possibility A: The dead will remain dead; and the one who lives will remain alive?
        • Jeong Na Ra (original) dies
        • Oh Yeo Jin (original) lives
      • Possibility B: history will be rewritten.
        • Jeong Na Ra will live again
        • Oh Yeo Jin will die
  • Is the “birthday” rule still in effect after 10 years?

wow bro, nice. i wonder if there will only be 2 spoons or more. And is there any rule, on who to give the spoon? or what are the criteria to choose? or it is just random. And lol is that old man some god lol, why not use herself, if not.

Thank you.

So far, looks like the old mysterious lady is the only source of the Golden Spoon and she seems to be targeting teenagers with issues about their own 'fate' in life.

Now, as to how it will end up and who their target is, I think the old lady doesn't care, it appears like a 'game' for her. Unless she can reverse everything herself and bring back those died because of the switch (like the real Oh Yeo Jin).

So basically:

Seung Cheon is now on his third and final chance.

1st time/chance: 30 days (he switched)
2nd time/chance: 12 months (he returned)
3rd time/chance: 10 years (he switched again)

After the third chance, he has to make one final decision if he will keep the switch or return; after that it's permanent.

As for Jeong Na Ra (a.k.a. the fake Oh Yeo Jin),she is probably consuming her 10 years before the story of Seung Cheon started.  I did not pay attention to when the flashback was, but it's probably 1-3 years before Seong Cheon. So by the show's current timeline, fake Oh Yeo Jin is now somewhere 2-4 years out of 10 years.

Updated as of episode 10 revelations.

Enjoy!

There is also one unknown about parents. Does person need to meet one or both and/or does it work only with biological parents (TY's stepmother might be out of the equation).
And about original Oh Yeo Jin. If I remember correctly all the wounds are taken with the person so original Oh Yeo Jin would be dead anyway.

As of episode 13 and 14, it seems only one parent and has to be biological parents.

And yeah, everything about the 'body', including DNA and wounds, are carried over.

Updated as of episode 13 and 14 revelations.

Can you point at what minutes and episode about dna things, talent, and disease? Need the sources, probably because somehow fast forward when watching

Hmm… unfortunately, I don't remember which episodes. However, I can give you sample scenes.

  1. Disease, illness: When Jeong Na Ra switched to Oh Yeo Jin, Oh Yeo Jin's sickness was also carried over.
    1. Fake Oh Yeo Jin remained healthy.
    2. Fake Jeong Na Ra was still sick just like how she was sick when she was still the Oh Yeo Jin. Then she died.
  2. DNA: When Kwon Yohan became Fake Hwang Hyeon Do (episode 13 and 14)
    1. When Fake Seung Chun saw Fake Hyeon Do on his birthday, they did not return to their original identities.
    2. But when Fake Tae Yong saw his real father on his birthday, Mr. Lee, they returned to their original identities.
    3. It means that Fake Hwang Hyeon Do is not the biological father of Fake Seung Chun / Real Tae Yong.
    4. In other words, DNA carries over during a switch.
  3. Talents: When Fake Seung Chun visited Fake Tae Yong's birthday, during one of the earlier episodes, Fake Seung Chun played the piano; but Fake Tae Yong can not play the piano.
  4. Talents: Fake Seung Chun can still draw. Fake Tae Yong still can not draw.
  5. Skills: Fake Seung Chun was bad in organizing and cleaning (convenient store job) since he never did it before. Fake Tae Yong is still very good at it after they first switched.

That end plot twist was so good.. Nd how they set it up.. He remembers everything again even after the final switch done by another golden spoon user who took mls place nd how he tried to hide his emotions but for us viewers it was visible in his convo with fl so over time she recognizes him again by herself..nd as he gave hints to her indirectly..by saying the same thing regarding getting recognized by her even he appears in front of her with a different identity again I so wished they had shown that happening
