I am always on the lookout in my viewing for songs that turn up quirkily.... And there was this old gem:
The Hero Song (Hao Han Ge 好汉歌) which goes back... to when? So, the lyrics go like this :
- 大河向东流哇 天上的星星参北斗哇
- Dàhé xiàng dōng liú wa Tiānshàng de xīngxīng cān Běidǒu wa
- The river flows eastward, the stars in the sky join the Big Dipper
So, it was a song sung by Liu Han, for the TV series “The Water Margin” (1998) and you can listen to it, with pinyin and translation in this Liu Han recording and for a laugh, look at this spoof in English in an old programme of 2013 featuring the Canadian Da Shan : enjoy !
There is an MV from the CCTV 43 episodes TV series which can be watched on YouTube with English subtitles.
Many manga devotees from Kiss The Abyss were listening to it ! (According to Yaoi Wiki : "Kiss the Abyss is an manhua written by Mu Huoran and illustrated by Tumin and Nakelulu. Released in 2020, it has been published by Bilibili with BiliBili Comics being its English publisher." This BL story has an audio version in Chinese with this other "OST song", and there was a trailer here for that audio version).
