In the novel, he had no role in the interactions between CP and ZM 10,000 years ago although he did approve the request of the Divine clan to change ZM's fate. 

He and CP also didn't spend any time together even before that because he was in charge of the heavens and she of the earth.

I think scriptwriters like to create conflicts and drama among the main leads. The more the better lol

There was a part during the time he went back in time to save her that I noticed something that looked like a pearl fell out of his garments and rolled into the crevices on the ground. I think this was after he got the lotus flower. I am not sure what that meant.

 Soocrafty:
