kanade:
My only 2 favorite dramas are Japanese (Mother and 1 Litre of Tears), but I guess I simply must not like the way Japan makes romances, because even though on paper the dramas recommended here should be to my liking, I dropped both of them, and it totally killed my enthusiasm for trying 5-ji Kara 9-ji Made again. I guess I'll try some K-movies instead of dramas for now. Thanks for all the recs.
Actually if it's Japanese drama, I tend to watch the sad and meaningful one (even though I also like drama about profession especially if it's mystery/investigation drama).
1 Litre of Tears is about terminal illness, how about trying:
Boku no Ita Jikan (2014) where ML suffering from ALS or
Silent (2022) where ML is suffering from hearing impairment (which is not terminal illness but affect his whole life as he's normal at first)
If FL is the one suffering from terminal illness there are some movies:
Love Like The Falling Petals (2022) where FL is suffering from genetic illness where she gets older much faster like hundreds of times faster
The Last 10 Years (2022) where FL is suffering from a terminal illness that limit her life to another 10 years
And where both leads suffering from terminal illness: Drawing Closer (2024) as FL only has 6 months to live and ML only has 1 year to live (if he's not doing the operation)
All ML falling first iirc.
I haven't watch Mother but I get the idea, it's about mother and adopted children bond, so maybe (but these all have nothing to do with law and violence, can't think one with the exact plotline):
Ashita Mama ga Inai (2014) about an orphanage but the caretaker is a man
Gibo to Musume (2018) where FL marrying sick ML with the promise of her taking care his daughter after his death
Umi no Hajimari (2024) where ML find he has a daughter on the day he visit his late ex-gf's mourning room
But if you don't want to try, it's okay. Go with the one you most familiar with.
