I'd watched soo many western movies and tv series that I began to struggle to find new movies/series that were interesting and fit my taste. After a massive slump, I tried Korean dramas and I instantly loved them. Then I tried Chinese, then Japanese, then Thai, then Taiwanese and I loved dramas from all these countries. My favourite has got to be historical Chinese dramas with a badass male lead who is a strong martial artist and is smart (not naive and tricked into things easily).

One of the things I've noticed and dislike is that Asian dramas use soo many misunderstandings as a plot device to create conflict between characters. Now I understand that misunderstandings are sometimes necessary for the sake of the story and they are an effective plot device to keep things interesting. For me personally, misunderstandings are fine between characters who aren't too familiar with each other therefore they don't trust each other completely. This would make it possible and believable for other characters to use tactics to instil doubt to create misunderstandings. However, it shouldn't be possible to create such big misunderstandings from such little things between lovers who claim they love each other to death. If they are shown to love each other unconditionally then they should trust each other completely. This should make it very difficult to misunderstand each other. But there are so many situations where a jealous side character easily tricks one or both of the main leads creating misunderstandings which aren't solved for a large portion of the drama usually. It feels like this happens in every drama I watch and whenever this happens it really really really annoys me. Not to the point where I stop watching the drama but it stays in the back of my mind.

If you bothered to read all that then could you recommend a drama where the main leads (preferably in a relationship) don't really have misunderstandings between each other and trust each other fully (or there are minimal misunderstandings/they are executed perfectly so are believable). Can be any type of drama from any country as long as there is romance. Would really be a bonus if it's a newer historical Chinese drama with a wuxia/fantasy/action element.

Thanks.

I've already watched all 3 but thank you for the reply  :)

Try the Japanese drama Tonari no Kazoku wa Aoku Mieru. The main couple are very supportive of each other and talk about everything.

Her private life! The couple is super cute and doesn't keep fighting over nothing <3

Also, there's The smile has left your eyes, which does envolve drama, but it's placed very well and the whole drama is amazing

Lost Love in Times

I remember watching like the first 5-10 episodes but found it quite boring. Does it get better?

I'm currently in the middle of watching Thirty But Seventeen , and I often feel surprised at how moments where I think I'll be watching a misunderstanding for the next 2 episodes, a character just opens up and talks honestly. I guess it's because the characters are innocent and find it hard to hide what they're feeling, but it is seriously a like a breath of fresh air!

I would say that it has some parts that were dragging – especially in the second part, but I quite enjoyed it.  If you consider the first 10 episodes boring, I think it is not for you.

Hi , I also love drama with less misunderstanding and strong relationship. I made this list of no breakup. These drama has strong bond with very less or almost no misunderstanding.

Hey, thanks for the list.

I have one, but it's a bit older. Also it fits your requirements and it's one of my favorites: The Vigilantes in Masks

I recommend this one every chance I get!
