Lakorns for Beginners
If you are planning on venturing out to Thai dramas, best known as Lakorns, but is afraid of picking up a shown and starting it then here's a little nudge from me to you. For me, these are among the best lakorns to start with and also those that I have watched. Be aware that there may be some sensitive contents, as a lot of lakorns do but don't be discouraged as they have good plots and they are really almost always resolved.
So, let's get started!
PS: They're arranged in alphabetical order and not by ranking.
-
1. Full House
Thai Drama - 2014, 20 episodes
A great remake of a Korean classic drama.
-
2. Game Sanaeha
Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes
I love the story and how James' character was.
-
3. Jao Sao Jum Yorm
Thai Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Your typical run on the mill contract marriage stories. If you like dramas where the male lead falls in love first then this is your thing. This is also not that heavy and the female lead is not annoying towards the male lead. I enjoyed this one greatly.
-
4. Khun Chai Pudhiphat
Thai Drama - 2013, 10 episodes
Oh, I just love James and Bella. Their chemistry here is great and the story although at times draggy was not difficult to watch.
-
5. Kiss Me
Thai Drama - 2015, 20 episodes
One of the best remakes of Itazura na Kiss, hands down.
-

Revenge turned to love. This is one of the best for me. I enjoyed the pairing truly. I also love Mark Prin a lot.
-
7. Leh Ratree
Thai Drama - 2015, 12 episodes
I liked this one because of Sean and Esther. They have amazing chemistry and when you get past some of the man-handling, it's a worth it story.
-
8. Leh Ruk Bussaba
Thai Drama - 2018, 15 episodes
I truly enjoyed this one. The chemistry was on point and Mike was such a delight to watch. The story wasn't as heavy and there are some conflicts near the end that are quite unnecessary. If I could change anything, I'd probably re-write the flow of the finale episode but nonetheless I enjoyed it.
-
9. Marn Bang Jai
Thai Drama - 2020, 15 episodes
I like age gap stories that's why this hit the spot just right.
-
10. My Husband in Law
Thai Drama - 2020, 15 episodes
This one, I started because of Mark Prin. I have always liked these kinds of stories, those that start off with one-sided love and then eventually you know, they get love. The leads are playful with each other and have great chemistry.
-
11. Ngao Asoke
Thai Drama - 2016, 19 episodes
Again, Sean and Esther. But I liked this story. It's quite messy in the beginning but you'll love the leads and how they play their characters.
-
12. Padiwaradda
Thai Drama - 2016, 14 episodes
It's a really good love story. The leads get to develop love slowly yet beautifully. There is however a very irritating ex-lover that will lurk and try to destroy the leads' relationship.
-
13. Payakorn Sorn Ruk
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
If you love James Ji then you should watch this. The story is interesting too and it'll really keep you guessing at all times. Plus James is such a knight in shining armor here.
-
14. Plerng Naree
Thai Drama - 2016, 12 episodes
Basic revenge plot for you, good chemistry, and alright story.
-
15. Princess Hours

-
18. Suparburoot Jorm Jon: Maturot Lohgan

Thai Drama - 2017, 8 episodes
Hunsa is adorable. Period. The story was not that heavy and a breeze to watch compared to other lakorns.

Goodness, these two made my heart all giddy. ML fell in love first and he's such a delight too.
-

Thai Drama - 2017, 4 episodes
The chemistry between these two is oozing and it was a light and fun watch for me.
-

Thai Drama - 2017, 4 episodes
Short story, the leads have good chemistry.
-
24. Ugly Duckling Series: Boy's Paradise
Thai Drama - 2015, 9 episodes
Sean and Esther, I know. But this is a light kind of story also so it's worth to watch and binge on.
-
25. Ugly Duckling Series: Perfect Match
Thai Drama - 2015, 9 episodes
One of my first lakorns, I love the transformation and growth of Joo (Female Lead). It makes you value the people around you who stayed when you were at your lowest. It also kinda says that how you look like does not define you.
-
26. Wanida
Thai Drama - 2010, 16 episodes
I enjoyed this one a lot, I got an LQ version but it didn't stop me to enjoy it. The chemistry is great, the development is great, the drama is not so heavy. I put this off a couple of times and I am glad that I came around to watching it. You'll surely enjoy this a whole lot of you like cliche dramas.
