  • The Crowned Clown

    1. The Crowned Clown

    Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes

The Crowned Clown - This is a Joseon period drama.  Yi Heon is a King who is influenced by corrupt officials and is a brutal ruler.  He is paranoid about being assassinated and his Royal Secretary finds a clown named Ha-seon that looks exactly like the King.  The clown takes the King’s place so the King can hide out and “rest”. When the King was ready to take back the throne, drama ensues!  Yeo Jin-Goo did a great job portraying both the King and the clown because the 2 characters were complete opposites.  The side characters who supported the clown were all interesting and likeable characters.  Sometimes the corruption and disloyalty was a bit over the top and the last 15 minutes was unnecessarily dramatic. However, if you like saeguk dramas, I would recommend it.  - u/Raindrop_96

  • Kill Me, Heal Me

    2. Kill Me, Heal Me

    Korean Drama - 2015, 20 episodes

Kill Me Heal Me -  the ML has multiple personalities and the FL is his doctor. It has phenomenal acting where you can tell which personality is in charge simply from the actor’s body language. It’s a beautiful drama that explores childhood trauma and abuse, and what the characters do to overcome it. - u/caninedesign

  • Drama Special Season 12: Be;Twin

    3. Drama Special Season 12: Be;Twin

    Korean Special - 2021, 1 episode

Drama Special Be;Twin -  the ML has a twin brother. He pretends to be his brother at a contract signing and ends up liking the woman his brother works with. Then the love triangle forms because his brother also likes that woman. It’s a quick story that explores the dynamic between siblings as they take care of each other but also compete with each other. - u/caninedesign

  • Mr. Queen

    4. Mr. Queen

    Korean Drama - 2020, 20 episodes

Mr Queen - a body swap, time jump Joseon comedy that I can't recommend enough. Lead, Bong-hwan, is a playboy chef who finds himself trapped in the body of a Joseon era Queen, Queen Cheorin. The actress, Shin Hye Sun, masterfully plays Bong Hwan trapped in Cheorin's body - alternating between their two personalities as Bong Hwan is forced to live the Queen's life while navigating court intrigue, palace politics and life with the King and the jealous concubine. It's a comedy with a well-written and thought of story! - u/binkybuddy

  • Bride of the Century

    6. Bride of the Century

    Korean Drama - 2014, 16 episodes

Bride of the Century - Choi Kang-Joo is a chaebol but his family has been under a curse that the first bride of the eldest son dies. Jang Yi-Kyung is also a chaebol but her family has been under bankruptcy and getting married to Kang-Joo will help them financially. However, when Yi-Kyung learns of the curse she runs away before her wedding. Na Doo-Rim is Yi-Kyung's lookalike and is brought in by Yi-Kyung's step brother. Then chaos ensues with all the chaebol drama, the push and pull between the main leads and the makjang-y tropes kicking in. Yang Jin-Sung plays dual roles as Yi-Kyung who is cold, selfish and evil and Doo-Rim who is kind hearted, loving and caring. It's a pretty hilarious drama if you don't take it too seriously though make sure you go in prepared for all the over-the-top drama. I kind of enjoyed the mystery aspect of it. - u/Fatooz

  • Healer

    7. Healer

    Korean Drama - 2014, 20 episodes

Healer - "Healer" is a special night courier who dreams of earning enough to live on an island at some point. One of his client's request leads him to getting very intrigued in Chae Young-Shin who is a tabloid writer for a small media company. He disguises himself as an intern who is the complete opposite of how he is as "Healer" in order to find more about her and the client as it leads him to finding out about his father and his father's past. In a way, Ji Chang-Wook plays dual roles becoming "Healer" by the night and Park Bong-Soo by the day, portraying completely opposite roles for majority of the drama. The drama is a full package as it offers romance, action, thriller and mystery and has high entertainment value. Also the chemistry between the main leads is so amazing. - u/Fatooz

  • The King: Eternal Monarch

    8. The King: Eternal Monarch

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

The King: Eternal Monarch - Lee Gon is the King of Kingdom of Corea where there is modern day monarchy and has the power to travel to a parallel universe, Republic of Korea, where he meets Jeong Tae-Eul whom he eventually falls in love with. However, the flute which gives him the power to time travel is split in half and the other half is with Lee Lim, a traitor who killed his father. He joins hands with Tae-Eul in order to defeat the bad guys and close the door between their parallel universes. Woo Do-Hwan & Kim Go-Eun played dual roles and fantastically pulled off their polar opposite personalities/characters. Woo Do-Hwan especially stole the show with his acting where he played the bubbly and funny Jo Eun-Sub residing in Republic of Korea and the very cold, aloof and serious Jo Young residing in Kingdom of Corea. Personally, I loved the drama. There was great chemistry between the cast, the soundtrack was beautiful and so was the cinematography. Although the drama was flawed, it was a very entertaining watch. - u/Fatooz

  • The Legend of the Blue Sea

    9. The Legend of the Blue Sea

    Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes

The Legend of the Blue Sea - Kim Dam-Ryung is the new town head and on the night of his post shift he meets a mermaid Seo Hwa and saves her, eventually falling in love with her. Present day Heo Joon-Jae is a swindler and on a trip has a chance encounter with a mermaid, but he's not aware of this secret of hers. As they both spend time together they fall in love, however, their fate from their previous life continues in this life and it's a story of their love and the test of their love. Both Lee Min-Ho and Jun Ji-Hyun play dual roles, one in the past and one in the present. I feel that this drama is an underrated gem. The dynamics between the three conmen is hilarious and wholesome, also Jun Ji-Hyun and Lee Min-Ho's comic timing is so good, they had amazing camaraderie. - u/Fatooz

  • Who Are You: School 2015

    10. Who Are You: School 2015

    Korean Drama - 2015, 16 episodes

Who Are You: School 2015 - Go Eun-Byul is one of the most popular girls of her school and is living a good life with her friends and loving mother on the front but she's going through a trauma on the inside. Lee Eun-Bi, Eun-Byul's twin sister is living a tough life getting bullied by her classmates in school and lives in an orphanage. Eun-Byul goes on a school trip but goes missing from there, however, Eun-Bi is then brought to Seoul by Eun-Byul's mom as a misunderstanding and she starts living the life of her twin sister. Kim So-Hyun plays dual roles as Go Eun-Byul - a confident, tough and sassy girl and Lee Eun-Bi - a kind hearted, naïve and loving girl. I really enjoyed the mystery of this drama and the way they dealt with the school corruption and bullying aspects. Although it really did give me major second lead syndrome. And Yook Sung-Jae's character was so well written and well acted.  - u/Fatooz
