I am giving this a 5/10, and that feels generous. The half of the score it does earn belongs entirely to the cinematography, Isomura's performance, Sumiko's arc, and the uncle's painting. The rest of it failed to deliver on almost every meaningful promise it made.

Fun and entertaining all the way to the end even when it was full of plotholes!! Park Eun-bin carried this drama on her BACK

is a beautifully crafted supernatural thriller with a gripping palace mystery, haunting atmosphere, and excellent performances from Nam Joo-hyuk and the cast. Although its expanding mythology occasionally slows the pace, its emotional core, political intrigue, and eerie folklore make it a compelling historical fantasy.
