My DROPPED List
Well… I tried. I really did. (Enough said.)
Here’s a chronological* list of dramas and movies I genuinely attempted to watch — as much as possible — but ultimately had to drop for the sake of my own precious sanity, ever since I started watching Asian shows in September 2022.
*From earliest (top) to most recent (bottom).
DISCLAIMER: the short reviews below may contain spoilers!
I’ll admit it: dropping a drama is hard for me. That’s actually one of the main reasons this list is still relatively short, considering I began watching Asian shows in September 2022. I clearly suffer from FOMO — but no worries, I’m working on it. And I'm getting better. Slowly but surely 😉
Before I finally decide to drop a show, I always try to give it a more‑than‑fair chance: usually at least the first 4–5 episodes of a K‑drama, or the first 7–8 episodes of a (generally longer) Chinese series.
I doubt I’ll ever give any of these titles another try in the future. It’s not that I don’t want to (well… some I clearly don’t. Like, never!), but time is of the essence, guys 😅
IMPORTANT: As a matter of principle, I don’t rate shows unless I’ve watched at least half of the episodes. And the ones I did rate were, in my opinion, rated very generously.

1. You're Beautiful
Korean Drama - 2009, 16 episodes
DROPPED on episode 2.
I found this show has aged very badly. I probably would have quite enjoyed this Kdrama while it aired in 2009 but it's impossible for me to watch/appreciate it nowadays (2022).

2. My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho
Korean Drama - 2010, 16 episodes
I DROPPED this show so fast (I couldn't even get to the end of episode 1) !
It aged too badly (for me to watch it in 2022) and the premise looked so ridiculous/stupid.

3. Bad Guys: City of Evil
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
DROPPED halfway through.
That overdose of fights was too much for me ! This series seemed to be a non-stop succession of men brawling in every somber place possible.
The acting -when they weren't busy fighting- wasn't bad but I couldn't go past episode 8 (of 16).
I think I should have watched the original "Bad Guys" (2014) instead. -
4. The Sound of Your Heart
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
DROPPED at episode 8 (of 10).
Well, I tried but this show made me cringe more than laugh.
-
5. Intern in My Heart
Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I had to DROP in the middle of episode 2 as I found this show very stupid (plot/script wise) and extremely exaggerated, almost caricatural, in its acting. There was sadly nothing subtle or any finesse about it.
IMPORTANT: As a matter of principle, I don’t rate shows unless I’ve watched at least half of the episodes. And the ones I did rate were, in my opinion, rated very generously. -
6. Falling into Your Smile
Chinese Drama - 2021, 31 episodes
DROPPED. I couldn't get past episode 5.
Sadly I couldn't relate at all to this e-gaming context and characters (youthful and cute but not deep/interesting enough).
Not only did the theme of video games not really hook me (and I understood almost nothing about what was happening in the games themselves. Quite frustrating !) but I personally found the coldness of the ML excessive. This very clichéd cold character has already been (over)done.

7. Iris
Korean Drama - 2009, 20 episodes
DROPPED (on episode 5).
As a European watching/looking for Asian shows, I'm NOT interested by stories happening in Europe (anymore).

8. I Hear You
Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes
-
9. Two Fathers
Taiwanese Drama - 2013, 73 episodes
-
10. Drunken to Love You
Taiwanese Drama - 2011, 30 episodes
-
11. Hospital Playlist Goes Camping
Korean TV Show - 2021, 6 episodes
-
12. The Untamed
Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes
-
13. Please Take Care of My Refrigerator Season 2
Korean TV Show - 2024, 100 episodes
It's a fun and interesting show indeed.
Unfortunately, even with subtitles, some of inner and cultural jokes were lost in translation (which I find perfectly normal but); so it lessened my overall enjoyement.
The recipes were culturally interesting and different but sometimes too elaborate or too unusual (ingredients) for me to relate to or to want to try them.
I'm a bit sad to let this show "go". Maybe I'll return to one or two episodes in the future though, as palate cleanser between 2 dramas.

14. The Fiery Priest
Korean Drama - 2019, 40 episodes
Started in September '25.
DROPPED halfway through.
Couldn't bare the (exaggerated) plain stupidity of most of the characters. Because of that, this show turned into bad comedy. -
15. Our Skyy 2: The Eclipse
Thai Drama - 2023, 2 episodes
Tried to watch this two-episodes Special in October '25 but DROPPED it in the middle of the 1st episode.

16. Kill to Love
Singaporean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Started & DROPPED on episode 7 (of 12 in total) in December '25.
-
17. Ashes of Love
Chinese Drama - 2018, 63 episodes
Started on October '25. Temporarely ON HOLD for 2-3 months.
Finally DROPPED it (in February '26 at episode 41/63) because I couldn't bare watching anymore of this insanity happening because of ONE incredibly selfish older "man of authority" who thinks he's a victim.

18. Rented in Finland
Korean TV Show - 2024, 10 episodes
Started in January '25. Very slowly watched the first 3 episodes. Found it too long, too slow and a bit boring, tbh. The sceneries were beautiful but I didn't feel any "chemistry" between the 4 actors, sadly.
Finally decided to DROP it once and for all around mid-February '26.

19. Head over Heels
Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
Started in March '26. DROPPED after completing the first 4 episodes.
It simply bored me. The acting was great and there were a few good scenes here and there but unfortunately nothing was really gripping me the rest of the time.

20. Stranger Season 2
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Started in March & DROPPED in June '26.
Why watch the sequel when the 1st season didn't really satisfy me ?
Well, firstly I enjoyed the 2 main actors' interactions, but more honestly because I use this second season as a sleeping pill the nights when I can’t fall asleep. Finally DROPPED on episode 3.
The "Sleeping Pill" Method worked so well that I never succeeded staying awake past episode 3. So, I decided to definitely drop it in June '26.

21. My Cherie Amour
Thai Drama - 2024, 19 episodes
Started in July '26.
DROPPED on episode 12 (of 19 in total).
Visually stunning but bland show
See my full review here: My Cherie Amour Review (Thai Drama 2024) | Ariane - MyDramaList
At first glance, this Thai drama is undeniably beautiful: the production, the costumes, the atmosphere, and the leads’ performances all have a classic lakorn charm. But despite its elegance, the drama suffers from several issues that keep it from reaching its full potential. My Cherie Amour is visually polished and well‑acted, but its slow pacing, choppy editing, repetitive conflicts, uneven soundtrack, and overly restrained romance prevent it from becoming truly memorable. It’s a pretty and safe drama; just not a fully satisfying one.
MAJOR CRIME made by the Prop Team:
At the end of episode 5, the FL is helping tidy up the ML’s bedroom, and there’s a stack of books on his desk.
The one right on top? The Copper Beech by Irish author Maeve Binchy… published in 1992. Meanwhile, this lakorn is supposed to take place around the late 1940s - early 1950s! ??♀️
Looks like the prop team had a very long day. Yup… a more than 40‑YEARS long day!?
PS: this happens also in episode 8 (those books in drawer were published in the 1970s).
