This is my third rewatch in full and I am still delighted by this drama. The OTP chemistry is still adorable as ever. This round of rewatch, I spent a lot of time appreciating the costumes because they were so gorgeous. I love the colors and designs. Another aspect that was easier to appreciate this time around now that I know how everything goes is the comedy, especially the wry remarks from so many characters. 

I really appreciate that this show has different levels of humor -- from physical gags to situational to satire to word play. I think the reason this show really stands up to rewatches is that with each rewatch, one can appreciate the layers of humor more and more.

This should be my third rewatch in full and my sixth rewatch overall.

I am still swept away by this story and appreciate how masterfully it has crafted the complexity of individuals where everyone and their actions are shown on a spectrum of good and bad, and right and wrong. And perhaps most importantly, situations where such labels are near impossible to apply.

I still can't really get over how much moral and ethical introspection this drama sets the stage for.

Maybe because I'm much older now than when I first watched this drama back when it aired, this drama has hit me even harder emotionally on this rewatch. I previously remembered it as a thrilling noir about the dark side of drug cartels and crime and the darkness in people's hearts. This rewatch, the drama strikes me as an ode of love to 情 and the goodness in people's hearts. 

Another notable difference is that with my improvement in Korean over the years, the dialogue of this drama is much more striking when I can understand the emotions being cued. Notable the use of names between the ML and FL -- it has helped me understand their relationship and love so much better.

To me, this drama is not a drama about the fight between the good guys and the bad guys but between those that retain their humanity versus those that have lost their humanity.

It's been a few years since my last rewatch and this time, I found myself appreciating the 80s and 90s part of the story more and more. At one point (probably on my initial watch), I used to feel somewhat disappointed by the ending but at least for this rewatch, I find the ending even more meaningful and 'perfect' than I have before. The sense of 'life goes on' that the ending portrays seem the perfect bookend.
