1. First Love
Japanese Drama - 2022, 9 episodes
I loved every minute of this series. I love how the ending goes in full circle in a way. I cried on a few episodes, and it takes a good amount of emotion to make me cry and this series managed to do so. I'm now a bit obsessed with this drama now, and I love it. If only I can lose my memory so that I can watch this masterpiece again.
-
2. Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning
Japanese Movie - 2021
There's something beautiful about this movie. I think this movie did the OVA justice. There's something about Arimura Kasumi's performance as Yukishiro Tomoe that just captivates me.
-
3. Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends
Japanese Movie - 2014
Even though this movie left out a few plot points from the anime, it manages to still be able to tie everything together and give the Shishio arc the ending it deserves. Truly the best ending to an amazing arc.
-
4. Alice in Borderland Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
The face cards made everything so much more interesting. The plot twist was unexpected, and the ending was satisfactory. I love this show.
-
5. Drawing Closer
Japanese Movie - 2024
I haven't cried this hard since Graves of the Fireflies. Everything was just so beautiful. The cinematography. The writing. The flowers. This movie had me crying for almost the entire runtime. What an amazing film.
-
6. Alice in Borderland
Japanese Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
I love this show. It made me cry in 3 episodes. After each episode, I kept wanting more. I kept wanting to know more. The whole premise of this show is right up my alley. It explores so many themes and executes them satisfyingly.
-
7. Call Me Chihiro
Japanese Movie - 2023
The cinematography is really good. I really liked it. The movie is also set in an aspect ratio that I've never seen before, giving uniqueness. This whole movie was not what I expected, and it's the type of movie that leaves you that feeling. I can't really explain it, but it's there, and I don't mind that it's there.
I just rewatched it, and things hit different. I could see the loneliness in her eyes. She tries so hard not to notice it, surrounding herself with people. She treats others the way she thinks they should be treated. She is an appreciative person. But no matter where she goes, loneliness always follows. It makes you wonder how far can you run to avoid it.
-
8. Perfect Days
Japanese Movie - 2023
It's a slow burn, but a very impactful one. A lot of people's lives are like this, but not everyone can smile the moment they step out their doors everyday. The beauty of appreciating things the way they are is rare. In a world of complainers and non-adapters, this film shows it's okay to be living okay. However, there's a sense of loneliness. Maybe you're fine with the way things are, but maybe you just want a little more. One more thing. A person to share life with.
-
9. 18×2 Beyond Youthful Days
Japanese Movie - 2024
I was immediately immersed when Ami came. Jimmy didn't know much Japanese, but just enough to communicate a bit. He reminds me of me. No wonder why I easily got sucked into this film. This film made me cry. That's an achievement in itself. Was this worth watching until 3 in the morning? Absolutely.
-
10. Rental Family
Japanese Movie - 2025
I really enjoyed this film. Brendan Fraser is a brilliant actor. I really felt everything the film tried to convey. I felt the loneliness and isoloation. With such an interesting plot, the film really did a great job explaining what everything means.
-
11. Rurouni Kenshin
Japanese Movie - 2012
I actually prefer this story over the anime. Having Jinei as the fake battousai is way better than some random big dude. The fights are great, and the audience can tell whenever Kenshin becomes battousai in some parts of the movie. The anime showed a change in Kenshin's eye color while the movie shows a demeanor change with Sato Takeru's performance.
-
12. Rurouni Kenshin: The Final
Japanese Movie - 2021
The Jinchu Arc never got animated, so I had no idea what this movie was even about. I only knew that Tomoe's brother Enishi would come back for Kenshin. Mackenyu's performance amazed me. What a way to end a franchise.
-
13. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno
Japanese Movie - 2014
I love the introduction of Shishio. It almost seemed like he was a demon from hell. So much of the plot had to be change because there was simply too much material to cover, but they managed to tie everything together and did the anime justice.
-
14. Your Eyes Tell
Japanese Movie - 2020
The turns, the twists, everything was so good. The backstories were so heartbreaking, and when they saw each other in the end, I could feel nothing but happiness and relief.
-
15. Glass Heart
Japanese Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
The last 2 episodes were phenomenal. This is gonna resonate with me for a few days. This drama showed a beautiful way to describe music, how it can find the love in our hearts. I would recommend this to anyone.
-
16. Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
Japanese Drama - 2009, 49 episodes
This was my favorite Super Sentai show when I was a kid. Rewatching this when I'm almost an adult just solidifies that statement even more. This will always be my favorite Super Sentai show.
-
17. Big World
Chinese Movie - 2024
The acting is insane. I love how they explore every about Liu's character. I can see how self-aware he is, how much he tries, and how much he thinks he burdens people by being alive.
-
18. The Hidden Fortress
Japanese Movie - 1958
The film that inspired Star Wars. Well-paced, kept me hooked, and I was drawn towards the character of the princess. This was my first black and white film and I think it was brilliant. The Akira Kurosawa binge is about to begin.
-
19. An Incurable Case of Love
Japanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
I really enjoyed this drama! I watched the first few episodes at night, and I just had to wake up early the next day to watch more! It was comedic, but also serious when it needed to be. This drama had a great blend of the two!
-
20. Alice in Borderland Season 3
Japanese Drama - 2025, 6 episodes
Now even though I don't think a season 3 was needed, I am not complaining! I wish there were more episodes though, at least two more because everything was a bit rushed. I have to give credit for them not going based off the manga because the manga ended after season 2. Still, I had a very good and fun time watching this show!
-
21. Oshi no Ko
Japanese Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
This show is so rewatchable. Some of the castings for absolutely perfect. The acting is also pretty good.
-
22. Why Didn’t I Tell You a Million Times?
Japanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
I really enjoyed watching this drama. It made me laugh so many times. Knowing that eventually Naoki would be gone forever was so sad, but I think the ending was right.
-
23. Memories of the Alhambra
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
This K-Drama series was the one that got me into K-Drama. This series was such so unique and I've never seen anything like it. I wish the ending could've been better though.
-
24. Even if This Love Disappears from the World Tonight
Japanese Movie - 2022
Teared up, but managed not to cry. I like how in the end Maori doesn't magically remember Tooru because there weren't really any significant things that would make her remember like how Yae remembered Harumichi in First Love. Overall, I enjoyed this movie.
-
25. Love Like the Falling Petals
Japanese Movie - 2022
For the first half of the film, I kept smiling like an idiot. I was happy for Haruto and Misaki. For the second half of the film, I was on the verge of crying. It's one of those movies that play with my emotions.
-
26. The Parades
Japanese Movie - 2024
Reminds me of another drama I watched. This time, the story expanded with the plot focusing on more than one story. And that really made me think about the regrets in my life. The lingering effect of the deep thoughts of life is definitely a thing that must happen after watching this film.
-
27. Let Me Eat Your Pancreas
Japanese Movie - 2017
The last 2 episodes were phenomenal. This is gonna resonate with me for a few days. This drama showed a beautiful way to describe music, how it can find the love in our hearts. I would recommend this to anyone.
-
28. All about Lily Chou Chou
Japanese Movie - 2001
I've never seen a movie like this. It was so interesting and rather confusing too. I tried so hard to follow along, to feel something. Things were rather left vague for me to try to decipher what any of this means. Almost every character was indecent in a way to me. I see some depth in them though. I might need to rewatch, but two hours and thirty minutes is a long runtime. I feel like the runtime was a bit stretched. I'm okay with slow pacing, but only if there's a feeling or only if there's a certain meaning involve that would grab ahold of the viewer and shake them awake. Me trying to wrap my head around what's going on kept me awake. To some others, I see they consider this a masterpiece, a word I do not use lightly. Some things can be a 10 out of 10 for me, but not be a masterpiece in a sense. Even though I don't consider this movie near my level of masterpiece, there is this weird feeling though after watching this. I can't explain it at the moment.
I just slept and woke up a day after watching the movie and there's something about"Arabesque" that makes me want to keep listening to it. I see a lot of people really like "Glide," but "Arabesque" really just clings to me. Interesting, isn't it?
-
29. Oshi no Ko: The Final Act
Japanese Movie - 2024
There was simply too much to cram into a movie. Certain plot points had to be cut. Some of the plot had to be changed. Lots of imperfections. However, I still fairly enjoyed this movie.
-
30. Aloners
Korean Movie - 2021
This movie shows a very miserable life of a person. I watched this looking forward to seeing a sad, miserable reality of being alone. I kind of got what I wanted, but I also didn't. I think, for the majority of the film, it was too dark, eerie, and even scary. The music sounded more scary than it did sad. Maybe that's what the film was looking to do, but that's not what I was looking for the film to do.
