They Had So Much Potential! What Happened?

1. The King's Woman
Chinese Drama - 2017, 48 episodes
I gave it a 7.5 for overall value (costumes, production, scenery) but I dropped the series. My BFF filled me in on what happened. The biggest issue I had with this series was the writing. The FL and supporting characters are essential to making a drama work, and the motives for their choices lacked consistency and sense--it wasn't seamless, or effortless, it was more like you could see where the writer said [insert action to introduce new plot/conflict] without really giving us a reason WHY. None of this was more evident than with the FL whose actions were extremely inconsistent with her character. The ML carried the drama. In fact, they should have just called it 'The King'. Because if they were going to make his character so cruel for historical accuracy, then they should have carried that over to his decision in partners because why the HECK would he waste his time pursuing this gal? I know a lot of people disagree with me, which is great someone has to like it. Just not me.
