He made his debut as a solo artist in December 2017 with the single "Cloudy". He then switched majors while at university and met other musicians who worked together for the final project of a class. As they had good chemistry, all decided to continue as a band and performed in nightclubs in Hongdae for several months before their official debut.
He re-debuted in January 2019 as OYSTER's leader, vocalist and guitarist with their first digital single, "Casual Girl". Almost all the band's songs are written and composed by him. They were originally represented by Label On Table.
However, soon after their debut, they chose to switch agencies and faced trademark issues as Label On Table did not allow them to use their name. So, they were forced to rebrand in late 2020 and chose 9001 (pronounced as NINETY O ONE). They released the digital single "Plastic Love" in January 2022, marking their first material under the new name.
In 2025, their contract with Amuse (아뮤즈) expired, and they are currently an independent band. They also decided to return to their original name, OYSTER, as they solved the trademark issues.
