In 1946, he joined the Tokyo Broadcasting Theatre Company (東京放送劇団) but left the following year to join the Miki Toriro group (三木鶏郎グループ). After working with Abuhachi-za (虻蜂座) and spending time as a freelancer, he became affiliated with Nakagawa Productions (中川プロ) in 1963.
