He joined Fuji Television in 1962. Since joining the company, he has been actively involved in programming and production. In February 2000, he concurrently served as the inaugural president of Japan Movie Satellite Broadcasting, a company established with investments from Fuji Television and others. By June 2001, he assumed the role of president at Fuji Television. During his tenure as president, there were incidents such as the Livedoor scandal and the data fabrication issue with Kansai Television's production of "Hakken! Aru Aru Daijiten 2". He stepped down to an advisory role in June 2007.

From September 2009, he served as a board member at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
