Fujimoto Giichi was a Japanese novelist and television scriptwriter born in Sakai, Osaka, Japan. He held leadership roles in the Kansai branch of the Japan Broadcasting Writers Association and served as president of Shinsaibashi University, where he mentored aspiring writers. His wife was the talent Fujimoto Toshiko, and his second daughter is the artist Fujimoto Maiko.

Fujimoto's education included attending Hamadera Elementary School and Naniwa Middle School. During the final stages of World War II, he worked as a reporter in the black market to support his family while his parents were hospitalized. He later attended Naniwa High School and initially aimed for a career in law at Osaka City University and Ritsumeikan University but ultimately pursued studies in economics at Osaka Prefectural University.

At Osaka Prefectural University, Fujimoto shifted his focus to drama, joining the drama club and co-founding the Japanese martial arts club. His passion for writing led him to author numerous radio dramas and scripts during his university years. He transitioned to television drama scriptwriting and contributed to productions at Toho and Takarazuka studios under the mentorship of director Kawashima Yuzo.

In 2011, Fujimoto was diagnosed with mesothelioma, leading to health complications that included pneumonia and a stroke in 2012. Despite recovering from the stroke, his health declined further, and he passed away on October 30, 2012, at the age of 79.
