In 1970, she founded Torii Co., Ltd., a women's clothing manufacturing and wholesale company. Torii presented her first collection in Paris in 1975 and continued to release biannual collections in both Tokyo and Paris until 2008.
In the mid-1960s, she began designing costumes for TV and stage performers. During the early 1980s, she collaborated with Toray to create modern kimonos. She has also designed various licensed items throughout her career.
