She began practicing taekwondo for several years until 2021, when a friend suggested she needed to try out for the school shooting team. She made the team and quickly realized she liked the sport more than taekwondo so she focused on improving her skills.
She made her Olympic debut for the South Korean national team (as the youngest member) at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She won the gold medal in the 10 m air rifle women's competition.
