Heo Young Man is a South Korean cartoonist. He graduated from Yeosu High School and later received an honorary Ph.D. in Literature from Mokpo National University.

As a teenager, his family faced financial problems after his father's anchovy fishing business failed. He gave up his dream of becoming a painter and decided to become a cartoonist, believing he could earn a lot of money.

He made his debut in 1974 when his work, "In Search of a Home", won the Hankook Ilbo New Cartoonist Contest. Several of his works have been adapted as dramas or movies and is considered one of the leading masters in the South Korean cartoon industry, having been active for over 50 years.
