Guo Yu Ang is a graduate from the Beijing Academy of Traditional Opera, and a descendant of the Mei School. While studying at Beijing Opera Academy, he also studied film and television performance at Shanghai Theatre Academy. In 2017, he became a disciple of Zhang Nan Yun, becoming the third-generation successor of the famous Peking Opera artist Mei Lan Fang.
