Tony is a Chinese-Canadian singer represented by Astro Music. He was a trainee for eight months under Hongyi Entertainment prior to his appearance as a contestant on the South Korean boy group survival reality show Produce X 101, where he ranked 20th. After the show, Tony started vlogging and releasing song covers.

He also participated in the Chinese survival show, Youth With You season 3. He ranked number 1 throughout the show until a controversy arose regarding his parents' business and his nationality, which led him to withdraw from the show. In the end, the show was canceled before it could finish.
