Mita Kazuyo was born in Osaka. She is the daughter of Mita Shigeo, the founder of Mita Kogyo (which became Kyocera Mita and is now known as Kyocera Document Solutions). Her older brother, Junkei, became president of the company. Her other brother is Mita Masahiro, a writer and professor.

After dropping out of university, she joined the actor training school's 15th generation. She went on to make her stage debut in 1966. Her drama debut occurred a year later with "Zettai Tasu". Her movie debut occurred with "Utamaro Yume to Shiriseba" in 1977. Edit Biography
