Hamahata Kenkichi

He was a graduate of the 15th class of the Haiyuza Theater Company's training program. After completing the training program, he joined the Shiki Theatre Company in 1966, making his stage debut in "The Brothers Karamazov" at the First Life Hall. In 1994, he left Shiki and became independent.
In addition to acting, he also directed musicals and operas, and in 2004 he became a professor and head of the Department of Performing Arts at Osaka University of Arts.
His wife is actress Kamimura Kyoko. Udata Ken is his younger brother.
On July 2, 2024, Kenkichi passed away at the age of 81 due to prostate cancer.
