Kamei Mitsuyo

In August 1945, she moved to Omura, Nagasaki, Japan, due to post-war repatriation. Because of her father’s work as a mining engineer, she changed elementary schools frequently, living in Hokkaido from 1st to 4th grade and then returning to Nagasaki for 5th grade.
After graduating from high school in 1962, Kamei entered the NHK Drama Training Institute (NHK俳優養成所). She made her acting debut in 1963 in the NHK TV drama "Chichi no Koibito" (父の恋人).
In 1974, she joined the comedy troupe founded by Hanato Kyo (花登筺) and remained with them for four years. In the early 1990s, she became affiliated with Horipro (ホリプロ).
