Shoji Taro was a Japanese singer born in Daidokoromachi, Akita City, Akita Prefecture.. He received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1965.

He graduated from Akita Prefectural Akita Junior High School, and moved to Tokyo to study at the National English School and enrolled in the Waseda University Faculty of Commerce Preparatory Course. He married Shoji Hisako just before he graduated. He studied Marxian economics at Manabu Sano.

After graduating from graduate school, he joined South Manchuria Railway Co., Ltd. in September 1923 and worked in the Research Division of the General Affairs Department. His musical dream couldn't be abandoned, and he worked for Manchuria Railway for seven years, but then left the company and returned to Japan. He ran a Chinese restaurant with his younger brother Saburo in Wasedatsurumakicho.

He studied vocal music under Shimoyagawa Keisuke, and won a prize by singing the aria "Lenato's Chant" from "I'm sorry" (Schumann) and "Masquerade" in the vocal section of the music competition. Edit Biography
