Naoki studied at Waseda University's English Department Preparatory Course and then at Waseda University's Higher Normal School English Department, but dropped out due to unpaid monthly fees. However, he continued to attend Waseda University and participated in taking his graduation commemorative photo.
After the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, he worked for Platonsha in Osaka and edited the entertainment magazine "Koraku" with Kawaguchi Matsutaro. After that, he gradually began to write period novels.
When he was 31 years old, he wrote a monthly review in "Jiji Shinpo" under a pseudonym, which was the beginning of his writing activities.
On February 24, 1934, he died at the age of 43 at the Tokyo Imperial University Hospital due to tuberculous meningitis. After his death, the literary prize "Naoki Prize" for popular literature was established by the initiative of Kikuchi Kan. Edit Biography
