He is from Tokyo . He belongs to Itoh Company. He is a member of the Shonentai and the eldest son of actor Katsuhide Uekusa.
Entered Johnny's office at the same time as entering junior high school in April 2007. He started performing arts activities as Johnny's Jr. under the name of "Yuta Uekusa". In July of the same year, he made his debut as an actor in the Shonentai musical "PLAYZONE'07 Change2Chance" and played the first parent-child co-star at Johnny's office. In October of the same year, he made his drama debut with a regular appearance in "Kinpachi sensei, 3rd grade B".
In March 2010, he left Johnny's office because he wanted to concentrate on his studies, and stopped performing arts activities. In 2011, he changed his stage name to "Yuta Higuchi".
Announced that he resumed performing arts activities under his current stage name and became a member of Itoh Company on April 23, 2012. On the same day, they announced the formation of the three-member unit Tower Boys.
