Ma Shi Li is a Taiwanese entertainer. She comes from a family of seven and was raised in a military dependents’ village in Taipei, Taiwan. Her father was a soldier who arrived in Taiwan in 1949 with the Republic of China military.

After the passing of her only brother, Ma adopted her second sister’s son to continue the Ma family line. Prior to her graduation, she participated in several singing contests, often reaching the finals but struggling with nervousness that prevented her from winning. At 18, Ma entered a singing competition hosted by China Television (CTV). Although she did not win, she attracted the attention of CTV’s general manager, Liang Xiao Huang (梁孝煌).
