Title A Birth
What do you mean? I think you need to learn history more...
I thought you were talking about the movie. If you want to discuss colonialism, Christianity, or other historical issues, that's a different discussion and this isn't really the right place for it. I don't intend to debate you on this. Please find another forum for that discussion.

As for the letter you posted: it has not been authenticated as an 1883 letter from Leopold II. Historian François Bontinck examined the document in 1984 and concluded that it was a relatively recent forgery. Historian Kalala Ngalamulume later traced its circulation to an anonymous typewritten document that was already circulating in Zaire in the 1970s. So presenting it simply as “Leopold II's 1883 letter” is historically misleading.

And even apart from that, Catholic missionaries did not derive their religious authority from the Belgian king. The Church has always been a separate institution, even though individual Catholics and Church institutions have at times made mistakes or become involved in political circumstances.

The Church has made many mistakes throughout 2,000 years because the people within the Church are imperfect. **Only God is perfect.** Recognizing the failures of Christians or Church institutions doesn't mean Christianity itself should be reduced to those failures.

But honestly, I'm not interested in debating this here. We're talking about a movie. If you want to debate colonial history or the Church, please take it to another forum.
