Mmmm🤔, they do spend 6 years together but maybe you forget that Tusanjing is injured. He needs 6 years to recover. For 6 years Tushanjing just lay down in bed and every day Xiaoliu spends his time outside earning money... so I think even though they spent 6 years together, they don’t do many things together. xiaoliu treats Tushanjing's wound and maybe talks about something/story to Tushanjing (i haven’t read the novel yet), so i think there is no way they can travel, eat or work together.
