I don't know why, I always feel bad when a cast member is hated. That is unless they are chronically evil and go out of their way to hurt others. But I feel bad because I would think receiving hate from all these people, and strangers at that, what if h/she commits suicide.

That's the logical way to go about it. Now, try to think even more emotionally. Maybe try to add your experience, if you have had a long relationship, into your reasoning. The first step is to think that no one is behaving 'badly' towards their ex because they hold bad intentions towards them. At one point, they were someone they cherished the most. They are all being driven by their emotions. Try to think down to their level. You are describing an action and facts but what's the actual feeling leading to it.
