First time as teens he had a crush ( both did) she found out his family background and told him to piss off.

2nd time she’s Mudeok, his memories of their cute moments together came back but he never once was inappropriate or forced his feelings on her , he didn’t even let her know that He Knows it’s her.
She went on a rampage and killed his best friend , which caused a rift between almost everyone, ( it broke up ChoDang) regardless of the love we all have for her character she was and still is a soul shifter ( I’m being unbiased now )

This time around he didn’t know it was her but the met and fate kicks in , it has for them all, he finds out she’s UK’s wifey he hasn’t done or said anything inappropriate to her at all, last episode he got confirmation it’s her and then he’s hallucinating killing because he thought if he had done so things wouldn’t have changed the way they did including his childhood friend Jang Uk.
Hugs are an act of kindness, it’s comforting .
I actually don’t see anything wrong with How Yul is dealing with the situation as it’s a normal thing to contemplate what’s right or wrong.
If I was in the situation I can not Be Truthful if I say I wouldn’t think the same.

I forgot to add she has a tender spot for Yul also and she even made that clear to Uk on both occasions
