they were very boring. I was rooting for Sian and Theo so once I got the feeling that they were not endgame in…
I was in the same boat, but it was clear she wasn't interested in Theo at a certain point. But her getting with JunSeo felt so out of nowhere too. So in the end it was just a weak season.
this is a call to all Xianxia/Xuanhuan fans, I NEED YOUR HELPI have a few questionsDo you think this is a good…
Good Drama? Rating? It's an okay drama. So long story short I do feel like it was stepping in an interesting direction, but I was underwhelmed in the end. The series had a lot of interesting ideas about the relations of humanity & immortals, but it sort of wasted it with a lot of unnecessary side stories. Not to mention most of the characters never made me fully invested in them. So I was just left underwhelmed. Like I could go in detail as to why, but that's an essay I don't really want to write. 7/10 for me, but I'm being generous.
All Xianxia Messy? Not really. This one was too ambitious & had too big of cast, but also didn't really do much with what it had too. So I do believe there are some better ones out there.
Throw you into a complicated world? Unfortunately, it's not just xianxia, but a majority of C-dramas do this. Usually the first 5 min is filled to the brim with important information.
Drama Recommendation? Starry Love is one of my favorites that is character driven. The main couples are all about character development & supporting each other. There are older dramas too & those are probably better paced bcuz they're not limited to 40 ep & had enough time to build the story in the first few ep. But I don't think I've watched enough of the old ones to recommend any.
Anyways, if you don't like any of the other recommended ones then maybe the genre isn't for you, which is fine. Don't force yourself to watch anything you just can't get into. Dramas come & go so fast nowadays.
I have a genuine ques. What makes this drama so popular. I mean i am still at ep 27. So it's safe to say that…
I don't really have a definitive answer, but it's mainly that the drama appeals to a certain audience. As to what appeals to them it will definitely be the "look" of the drama & the romance/chemistry with the couples. Bcuz this drama is good looking with a good looking cast that has some literal steamy scenes, the certain audience love that & that's more than enough. Regardless of story or directing.
As for MyDramaList it has long since become a place for people to simply be haters or stanners. Anybody who is actually trying to write proper reviews is going to get buried underneath these 2 groups. The stanners though usually prevail in the end so that's mainly why the show is highly rated as the rating is now a popularity poll rather than an actual quality rating.
Spot on! The lore is rich and very interesting and really makes you believe in this world. I also love how each…
More like moderate hope for the remaining episodes as I tend to get betrayed by bad writing. But I am anticipating a lot. Like I wonder how Xin Mei as a Talent will alter the story, Lord Rust-Sword actually achieving his dream or if Lu's going to be an important piece to the War Demon's revival. Lots of ideas & topics to explore. So yeah.
I actually really like the whole world building of this series. It's quite unique compared to basically all other Xianxia. Things like Immortality Taxes & how the Sects affect the human world are interesting. It's also interesting to see humans actually strive to be as strong as Immortals. It's all really cool & unique ideas that usually don't get explored.
The series feels like an authentic world bcuz everything is working into one another with the human world & the Sects & it's not just all about the Immortal Sects like most Xianxia. Like I can barely name 5 Xianxia where the human world even matters to the story. Most just abandon it after the origin part LOL! Not to mention the show also touches upon how Immortals actually can be detrimental to human society due to cultivation stagnating human advancement in technology is an interesting idea. Bcuz it addresses as to why after thousands of years why humanity never advances anywhere, bcuz magic, literally.
Long story short this series is quite rich in substance. So I hope it stays like this & actually becomes a drama I really like, bcuz I do know that some dramas tend to ruin themselves half way through. So I really like this series right now & fingers crossed that it stays genuinely good throughout.
Yes. I wonder what missing. Zhou ye is good actress..i watch most of her drama.. But this character had big loop..…
I've said this before for someone, but it's lack of depth & nuance. For example FL grew up as a boy in disguise, but we never see how this is bad for her psychologically. We don't see her struggle throughout in rediscovering her femininity to finally reclaiming it & being happy that she did. From day 1 when she joined the military she was acting more cutesy & feminine than the girl characters. When she put on that dancer disguise in the first few episodes she should've struggled as she never wore girl clothes before, but she puts it on easy. We barely see her interact with other female characters who should help her through this important ordeal. We only get small snippets of her wanting to be a girl, but never why it matters. So when she finally does reveal herself as a girl there's barely depth & nuance behind it. There are so many moments where the show can explore her what should be a very interesting character, but we get the bare minimum.
Thank you for reading. My review probably would've been longer had I've been healthier and I would've really stuck…
I didn't realize until now, but the FL is a Mary Sue. She could do almost no wrong & was essentially perfect. Creating little to no tension, character arc or compelling characterization. Tian Xi Wei carried the character.
If you can tolerate the FL being super cutesy & lacking some depth then sure, but otherwise it's not a must watch. The plot isn't the most interesting nor the characters the most amazing. I don't even remember the supporting characters. All pretty serviceable & standard.
I read this in full and was genuinely worried as you were, that this was written with AI, but since op says it…
I'm sorry to say, but you defended them in vain. This person most definitely used AI or something to write this review. And I'm not just saying it carelessly. I read through the entire thing & I noticed so many problems with it. However the 2 major ones would be:
1. This part "Xie Zheng’s Oath to Fan Changyu at the Memorial in Pursuit of Jade." Now I want to mainly emphasize on the "in Pursuit of Jade" part, bcuz why mention this is in Pursuit of Jade in a Pursuit of Jade review? Of course it would be. It makes no sense unless the AI stole this part from something that used it as a title from that one scene.
2. The review doesn't even mention 2nd couple or at the least Qi Min. No mention of any other characters too. This clearly shows that the reviewer chose Changyu & Xie Zheng as the subject to gather info on & nothing else. If the reviewer had time to talk about quotes & the OST then they should at least have time to mention the 2 most important characters after the 2 Leads.
Yeah, I'm 99% convinced & I hope you and anybody else happens upon my comment are convinced too, bcuz this is a disappointing review
Guys i am a bit confused with a ending credit part....Park Seo Joon character is from NIS right? So ... is he…
I'm guessing the director is implying Park SeoJoon was just going to "clean him up," but then while digging dirt on Rain he discovered Rain is attached to other big fish that is a threat to S.Korea as a whole & didn't want to waste a possible lead.
But really how I see, it's a set up for S3, in which I'm going on whim to guess that they are going to recruit essentially everybody to go bust this drug ring.
The drama comes across as quite illogical and predictable. I understand its a fantasy legal drama but even within…
I agree with everything except the trainee part. I think it made sense that she blurted everything out. She did "tase" him, reveal herself as mastermind while he was "unconscious" by ordering the producer around & just saw a "detective" arrest her accomplice. I think that's more than enough to make her realize she's hit a dead end & blurt everything out.
Now as for the denying everything in court I don't think that works too. Again she did "tase" him & I don't know the laws in South Korea, but I think a lawyer claiming you attempted to harm him holds some relevance in court. Then there's the major evidence that her prints are on the phone when she took it off of SuA. Not to mention the producer's own words if he is brought in as witness will work against her. And there are other things like her having motive, her prints on the taser, her lacking alibi, her instigating the other idols into kicking SuA out showing antagonistic behavior towards her & who knows maybe they would've pulled the classic cliche of CCTV that happened to have caught everything. All that being said, yeah we probably should've at least seen her getting sentenced or something. Even just a snippet.
The more I think about this series the more I realize/understand why JunSeo & SiAn got so much screen time & that's probably bcuz the other contestants were incredibly boring and/or put no effort to getting to know each other. I feel like no one genuinely tried other than the guys who were interested in SiAn. Well, maybe that one dude who was interested in "Sana"(forgot her name), but he was a bore too. LOL! So yeah, I feel JunSeo & SiAn got unnecessary hate.
Y'know it'd be easier if Woo Ju just wised up & said "so let me get this straight, what you really need is $$$ & a place to live right? Well, I'll just use my connections to get you a place & pay you handsomely in addition to the $$$ from this deal. Okay? Okay~" & the show would be over. LOL! But sure, let the ridiculousness commence. Not sure if I will stick around though.
PS I swear. For every 1 drama that doesn't have "fated meeting" there are 10 that are "fated." This trope needs to be toned down already.
This drama had so much promise and then just took a dive with ep 19.... My venting below with spoilers:
I unfortunately agree. For me it’s the change in tone though. It went from melodrama to 100% Romcom & doesn’t even feel like the same show anymore. The moment they dressed up as Barbie & Ken I was given a huge whiplash. It got silly out of nowhere & it just kept on getting sillier & sillier. Writing 101, don’t all of a sudden change your story’s genre.
