Im disappointed with this series 😓 I saw clip on YT of Na and Vin’s characters (specifically them as Rit and Wayu) and instead of watching the trailer to learn that those two were not the main leads I jumped straight into it (curse you misleading IQIYI clips💢) . I decided to give it a chance anyways because I knew they would pop up eventually but oof… I don’t think I can continue watching.
In general, I’m not a huge fan of historical BL’s unless they’re used for sociopolitical commentary and this BL wasn’t any better. My main gripes: #1 I can’t stand the mistreatment of servant's especially when it gets justified with the, “oh but the master is nice so it makes everything they do ok” like i’m not giving you brownie points for doing the bare minimum😵‍💫. #2 (my BIGGEST issue) The main leads are COUSINS!! Like am I missing something or is this incest? And every time they interact I just can’t get that fact out of my head…#3 The cringey food scenes were too much. Don’t get me wrong I love me a cringey silly moment every now and again but damn they just kept happening! (this may just be a nitpick lmao). And #4 NaVin aren’t the main couple and its not a hospital BL/ primarily based in a hospital. This one was on me once again tho because I should’ve just watched the damn trailer or something 😓. I genuinely wanted to like this. It was visually engaging, I enjoyed seeing the characters wardrobe + the small details like the historically accurate toothbrush and soap, and even some parts of the plot were intriguing; but in the end, I just don’t think this was my cup of tea. I wish I figured this out before watching the series for three straight hours….but oh well🤷🏾.

Pasyn pisses me off so bad and why is everyone so complicit to his behaviorrr??! I mean I get capitalistic aristocrats aren’t known for having good morals but damn! You do have a point. I also agree with Max when it came to Kawi thinking about Pisaengs viewpoint and feelings (in general I agree with mostly everything he said).

Although I do think Kawi pursuing Pear could’ve been solely based on romantic feeling/attraction, I may just be reaching, and over-analyzing 😅

Rationally thinking, Kawi was likely just hesitant about sex for other reasons that aren’t conclusive to being on the asexual spectrum. I still wish asexuality was mentioned in the conversation though, since it and aromanticism are often underrepresented or barley talked about, especially in BL.

Although what Max said was a “personal” opinion, I felt like he was virgin shaming Kawi for "lack" of experience and sexual desire.
I do wish that they’d discuss what asexuality meant, or AT LEAST alluded to the term asexual.
