i have... thoughts..!!

i'm not gonna pretend to be hoity-toity here, i did actually like this series a lot, so i don't want to just crap all over it, i do have good things to say too!!! positivity, guys, positivity. mainly, i LOVE the casting. the actors, especially kimmon and copter. they really pulled through in this series. the chemistry was definitely there and they just felt to real to me. i loved watching them throughout every single second that they were on screen. nonetheless, my personal bias does not save this show from objective criticism, as there's a lot in this series that just... didn't click. it might've just been me over analyzing or maybe some of these things get cleared up in s2 (probably), but i'd like to discuss my thoughts. firstly: what the actual fruitcake fuck is going on with the wayu-thanu-pha-phai situation? according to these weird mutual visions thanu and phai had (where tf did this sci-fi-esque side plot come from btw? lol) they're "destined" to each other, but wayu has one with thanu too, so is thanu destined to both of them or something? who am i supposed to be rooting for here? it just doesn't make sense.. secondly. my biggest ick in this series, the only part i absolutely could not stand, the tong & pok sub-plot. to be blunt, it bothered me so much that i ended up fast forwarding or straight up skipping through a lot of it bc i wasn't comfortable watching it. it felt so out of place. a less serious critique, but what is koh and jack's relationship meant to be? it was hinted that jack likes koh romantically when jack was talking to wayu, and then they never brought it up after that as if it didn't happen. finally, what the hell is sandee's deal and where in god's name did pha go... and why????? again, a lot of this is probably covered in s2, but i feel like the reliance on "it's explained in s2" makes some parts of gen y feel extremely lack luster and just confusing. it probably would've been better to just make it a longer series so that it could be more concise.
