This is not a male-centric (POV) drama even with him being top-billed. It's FL's POV. But, I don't think he was wasted here, he was able to show his versatility. I just wish he will receive more great dramas.

I wonder why it's underrated? I am enjoying it a lot. Because the leads are not famous enough or sth?

He reminds me of Mark Chao from TMOPB and Chen Kun from The Rise of Phoenixes. Those two are veterans, their acting skills are A+++. I got the same feelings here with when I watched those dramas.

Actually when I start watching it around ep 4, I thought ML is the least interesting character among main 4. Because his backstory, depth and personality was only coming back from insolated cultivation and being socially awkward. That's all.. it was too damn simple with no villains for him, no fight to win, what is he even doing? nothing.. etc.. you know what I mean. I was like really? why CXX even chose to act it?
Starting from around ep 10, things are getting interesting for him. The mortal arc's 3 shards are more interesting characters than YQ 1.0.

It's because SDYQ 1.0 was typical xianxia ML in boring heavenly realm with plain white clothes and bad hairstyling. He had no family or throne rival issues either, no villain for him there. Things get spice for him only in mortal realm.
