Title The Guilty
The drama is decent, but there's a lack of logic in many places, which points to lazy writing.

According to my analysis, its budget could be between ₹100 crore and ₹200 crore ($12M - $25M). The main reasons behind this are:
4 major reasons for the high budget:

Global Locations (International Shoots):
The series was not filmed in just one country, but in Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), and Berlin (Germany). Filming in expensive cities in Europe and Asia with a large crew significantly increases production costs.
High-Profile Cast (Star Power):
Ok Taecyeon is a global K-Pop and K-Drama star. He is joined by Japanese star Hayato Isomura. The fees of these two alone would constitute a significant portion of the budget. According to recent Netflix data, top Korean actors now command fees in the crores of rupees per episode.

Decade-Long Storyline (Timeline):
The story covers a 10-year period. This requires significant expenditure on sets, costumes, and character looks (prosthetics/makeup) for different time periods.

Netflix's Investment Trend:
Netflix has pledged to invest approximately $2.5 billion (₹20,000+ crore) in Korean content between 2023 and 2026. For original shows like "Soul Mate," they typically spend ₹15 to ₹25 crore per episode to ensure premium quality.

Okay, so you've watched the preview up to episode 1 to 17. In the meantime, did the female lead cheat on her husband also? Or is she likely to do so later?

Netflix tag lgbtq only in some country without romance tag
This is entirely a game of geopolitics and marketing. Netflix displays only those tags that are acceptable to the viewers and government of that country, so that their app doesn't get banned there."

they should have just not made a new gfn if their gonna recast her and have a shitty actor play her we do NOT…
It's very easy to call someone's hard work "shitty" when you're sitting at home just typing on a keyboard. If you didn't like the casting, then don't watch it, but don't spread your pathetic mindset here and show everyone your poor upbringing.

Seriously? Why are you here then? Two completely different dramas and just because they have the same ML and just…
It's strange, you're claiming to be "bothered" and giving explanations like a guilty person would. In your language, this "sarcasm" isn't showing your intelligence, but rather your frustration. Before advising others to take stock of themselves, please consider your own dignity, which has been completely lost with this message. Now, go and sit down quietly.
"Bye! Hopefully, next time you'll speak with a little logic instead of just words.
Right now,
you're just making noise like a firecracker."

All this lecturing just because I don't agree with your opinion? Your reaction clearly shows how deeply this has bothered you. This desperation to prove yourself right is truly something to behold. Anyway, don't run away; we'll talk again when you've developed a better sense of judgment. Goodbye.

Listening to you, it sounds like you're the producer of this drama, taking everything so personally. The comment section is for everyone's opinion, and if you think only "hymns" of your liking will be sung here, then you've come to the wrong place. Comparing two different dramas when the actors are the same is a common thing; calling it "pathetic" only shows your own lack of perspective.
As for Shakespeare and "masterpieces," brother/sister, it's 2026, not a literature class. The meaning of words changes with time; update your dictionary a little. Instead of trying to teach others what to say and what not to say, work on your own insecurities. If my opinion is so bothersome, then just enjoy your drama quietly instead of reading my comment. By trying to silence others, you're making yourself look more like a clown (pathetic). Next time, bring some logic with you before giving advice.

I feel the same way, such a waste because the leads are such good actors.
It's truly heartbreaking when such talented actors are wasted because of bad scripts or direction."

On one hand, you have the masterpiece "Love Between Lines," and on the other hand, you have this nonsensical drama, and it even features the same actor. I couldn't even bring myself to finish watching it properly. Chen Xingxu is a great actor, but perhaps someone was right when they said that an actor only shines when they work with good writers and directors. This drama is unnecessarily dragged out with forced and pointless plot points. The supporting couple has good chemistry, but the writer didn't do a good job with the main couple. Some people are complaining about the rating; believe me, even an 8.0 rating is too high for this. Chen Xingxu, I'm sure you'll work on a better project next time.

kim jae wook 2nd ml??? TTTTTTTT give him main roles!!!
"Because he doesn't just want to be a 'hero,' he wants to be a 'versatile actor.' Sometimes, playing a second lead or a villain gives you more opportunities to showcase your acting skills, and that's what Kim Jae Wook is doing. However, we're also looking forward to seeing him in more lead roles!"

Here, Wu Yi Jun and Gu Chen are given a serious love story. The writer portrays them not merely as villains, but as "people in love," which changes the entire tone of the story.

Did we even watch the same drama? This is not a modern day drama. An older man marrying a younger girl was not…
Look, it's not about 'understanding,' but about 'perspective.' Just because a film or drama is set in the Republican Era doesn't mean we should justify every toxic behavior depicted in it in the name of historical context.
As for comparisons, just because other dramas have shown horrific scenes like rape or miscarriage doesn't make this drama 'better.' That's like saying, 'Someone broke my arm, so I should be happy because they didn't kill me.'
The story might be intended to be frustrating, but as a viewer, my enjoyment depends on whether that frustration is driving the narrative forward or simply serving up gratuitous misery. Using the word 'prostitution' might be inaccurate, but selling oneself out of desperation, regardless of the intention, is ultimately a tragic and oppressive situation. You might enjoy this kind of 'toxic male drama,' but not everyone can tolerate seeing regressive ideas glorified in the name of art.

Why do I sense like Kim Jung Hyun's role is going to be a villain (which is great)?
This drama is a suspense thriller, and Kim Jung-hyun's character is described as quite complex and mysterious. He might appear as an "antagonist" or "anti-hero" rather than being purely a hero or a villain.
Plot Twist: Since this drama is based on the 1999 Japanese show The Ice World, suspicion falls on every main character. Kim Jung-hyun's character could be one of the main suspects in the story.
Complicated Relationship: His character might be connected to Park Min-young's (Han Seol-ah) past, making him a significant part of this mystery.
