I recently completed Heart Stain (Korean), and I have to say, I found it rather disappointing. The plot lacked substance, and the chemistry between the actors was noticeably absent, making the experience far less engaging—despite its rating of 7.4.

In stark contrast, this series - Business as Usual is an exceptionally well-crafted series. The acting is outstanding, the plot is masterfully structured with well-timed flashbacks, and the cinematography is truly remarkable. The cast is equally impressive. Yet, surprisingly, it holds the same rating of 7.4?

This inconsistency in ratings has led us to seriously question the reliability and accuracy of the user reviews on MyDramaList.

Having watched Episode 5 today, I am quite impressed that my predictions from last week proved to be accurate. I am eagerly anticipating the final two episodes. Given the emotional weight of their reunion after more than eight years apart, I expect their kiss and the NC scene to be particularly powerful and emotionally charged. If the current trajectory continues, I believe the NC scene in Episode 6 may surpass that of Episode 1 in both intensity and significance.

Minjun is an introvert, which makes it genuinely difficult for him to express his emotions clearly — especially in emotionally vulnerable situations. His tendency to jump to conclusions isn’t just immaturity; it’s part of how he processes the world around him. He struggles with vulnerability, and that influences how he reacts under pressure.

Jin Hwan, on the other hand, is experiencing his first real relationship. Naturally, he struggles to navigate unfamiliar emotions and hesitates to be direct. He’s so inexperienced that he even turns to his friend for advice and tips, unsure of how to handle his feelings properly. His actions stem more from inexperience and fear of ruining what they had than from intentional avoidance.

Both characters are still quite young during the events of the series, and emotional missteps are part of their journey. Their mistakes feel authentic and reflect how people often act when they’re still learning how to handle love and communication. They may not be perfect, but that’s what makes their story so compelling. Their growth, regrets, and deep-rooted connection are what carry the emotional heart of the series.

After all, imagine watching a superhero series with no villain — there’s no tension, no stakes. Just like that, if these two had communicated perfectly from the start, there’d be no plot, no emotional journey — and certainly no reason for us to keep watching

At last, JiHun has come to a realization—it’s as though a light bulb has finally gone off. He now understands that BaU has feelings for him. Unfortunately, their group of friends has complicated the situation. My prediction is that in the next episode, JiHun and BaU will begin going on dates and gradually open up about their feelings for one another.

I also believe that HaMin genuinely has feelings for BaU. When he initially expressed them, he was sincere, but later retracted his words—likely because he didn’t want to become a third wheel in their developing relationship.

For example, while I absolutely loved Gemini and Fourth in High School Musical and Moonlight Chicken, and rated both shows 8.5/10, I found My Love Mix-Up disappointing and gave it a 4/10. The pacing felt slow, the chemistry wasn’t there for me, and despite liking the actors individually, I couldn't justify a high score based purely on their presence. Like I said, I’m not biased just because certain actors are involved.

And yet, it also only has a 7.4?

This shows that the MDL scoring system doesn’t always reflect the actual quality of a series. Business as Usual is clearly a much stronger drama than Heart Stain, yet their scores are the same. As you can see, both dramas had no prior shipping involved, and yet the ratings still feel unfair. I completely agree—Business as Usual deserved at least an 8+.

In the end, while I agree that the obsession with certain actor pairings can hinder growth and honest critique, I also think it’s important to recognize that even outside of Thai BLs, fan ratings can be inconsistent or biased. Constructive criticism and fair evaluation are key if we want the industry to continue to improve.

Monster Next Door (2024) is hands down one of the CUTEST BL series I’ve seen this year! 🥰 I was totally hooked from the very beginning and binged the whole thing in just two sittings — true bindweed behavior 🌿😅

The friend group was such a joy to watch — I loved how supportive and genuine their bond was 💕 It made the emotional moments hit even harder.

Now let’s talk about Big as God... I’m completely OBSESSED 😍 He’s literally perfect — the height, the body, the smile, the everything. He’s so cute and handsome, like the ultimate boyfriend. I’m already counting down the days until Me and Who — can’t wait to see him again! 🫶
