His father is dying, and extracting Gaysorn's fragrance may be the only way to save him. Yes, he came to the village with an agenda. Yes, he kept Gaysorn close because he needed something from him. But he also genuinely helped Gaysorn search for his mother, so the relationship was never completely one sided.
What makes Scent interesting is that he is flawed. He is desperate, manipulative, and willing to make morally questionable choices for someone he loves. That does not make him a good person, but it makes him a believable and compelling character. You can already see him developing real feelings for Gaysorn, which is exactly why the inevitable fallout will hurt so much when the truth comes out.
If Scent had been completely honest from the beginning and said, "I need to extract your fragrance to save my father," do people really think Gaysorn would have gone with him to Bangkok? Probably not. The story works because Scent's actions create conflict. If he were a perfect green flag from episode one, there would be very little tension or emotional stakes.
People often love morally grey characters in other genres because they are complicated. Understanding a character's motivations does not mean you approve of everything they do. It simply means the writing is doing its job.
Third, regarding the relationship with the nephew of the man who killed Gaysorn's mother, Scent and Gaysorn fell in love before they even knew about that connection. More importantly, Scent did not commit the murder. His uncle did. Both Scent and Gaysorn were only around four years old when the murder happened and had absolutely nothing to do with it.
I don't think it's fair to say two people cannot be together because of a crime committed by an older relative. Scent is not responsible for his uncle's actions. In fact, he loved Gaysorn enough to turn his own uncle over to the police. That alone shows where his loyalty and morals ultimately lie.
By that logic, anyone whose relative committed a crime would be forever judged for something they never did themselves. Love is between two people, not between their family histories. Holding Scent accountable for his uncle's crime makes no more sense than blaming a child for the actions of their parents or relatives
Their first kiss appeared only as shadows dancing over the ocean's waves, and somehow that made it even more beautiful. The water caught the moment and carried it across the shore. I had never seen a shadow kiss in a BL before, and they executed it perfectly.
It was a slow burn for four episodes, but it was definitely worth the wait.

His face was completely visible, and Sun could clearly see through the costume since he was able to fight off all those thugs in the alley.
