Ironically I was kinda meh about Esther but I turned into a huge fan of hers after this show cuz girly has nerves of STEEL for going through all this hate while maintaining such a bright personality on the variety show and in her livestreams, providing such a positive experience to her fans / show watchers (not to mention the hard work needed for the gazillion videos and photos she took personally)

Fair enough haha. Maybe Netflix can buy it in a year after the interest on IQIYI international dies down, and give it a second life

aww that’s unfortunate. I feel like this drama could’ve really put modern cdramas on the international map if it were on Netflix! Since typically Kdramas had the lead in modern dramas and Cdramas were better in historical / fantasy

I feel like the industry seems super convoluted (like IQIYI being accused of suppressing Esther’s heat index so it can pay Esther less, or may fans buy more “gifts” to boost the heat index; actors buying bad press against their competitors; Douyin “suppressing” certain shows’ content if the platform doesn’t have an advertising agreeement with them; etc.). Idk which are true and which aren’t

But given how convoluted it seems, i wouldn’t be surprised if that’s contributing to drama quality suffering (since there are so many other factors at play)

I followed him around 10k, so I was expecting him to cap out around 300k (so around Li Yun Rui and Meng Zi Yi from how blossom exploded last year).

Then he blew past 300k, so I was expecting some tapering around 500k (around Wang Xing Yue from The Double).

Then he blew past that too, so I’m just waiting excitedly for the 1mm mark.
