I don't get why so many people hate the ml so much😭 I'm sorry but these are teenagers, they are competitive, selfish etc. they're not perfect. Even though they aren't in the same team, he still helped her find another teammate. During the competition, sure he knew her weakness, but it's not like he could predict for sure she'll do what he expected. He was also gambling here, bc if the fl changed her mind and did what her teammates suggested they might have won. But she's so used to competing alone that she forgot that you can't win solo in a team. This is a good development for her.
In every competition I think it's fair to predict what your rival are thinking and I actually like he didn't go easy on her just bc they're friends, I feel like that's more respectful? he knew full well how smart she is that's why he didn't dare underestimate her. The ml is not perfect but I don't think he did anything unforgivable to be called a redflag😭

I'd suggest try watching 3 episodes first if you're up for it. I personally enjoyed it so far, for one the colour grading is so pretty and comfortable to watch. It's fair that people have different opinions regarding the characters but that's what makes discussion interesting. So give it a chance, maybe you'll like it. I have to say, watching this got me feeling emotional.. every episodes makes you feel for the characters and they aren't perfect..they're childish, bit stubborn, I mean they're teenagers. I get why they're like that and I'm rooting for their growth
