there's no way this should be rated 8.0. the fl is described as a strong woman, but when it matters she can't protect herself or doesn't respond accordingly to the absolute SHIT people throw at her. she lets her boss/former boss disrespect her, and she actually apologizes and defends him. the so called "redemption arc" is absolutely useless: apart from the fact that it happens way later than it should've, the fl has started to recognize his "good" side long before and it makes no sense. he's been bullying (and this is taking an easy term) her for so long, humiliating and treating her like dirt... the romance had no place whatsoever in this drama. IF we can call it even a romance, since after all this suffering we only get an almost non-existent kiss in the last episode. this is trash.
unpopular opinion but this was slow, draggy af, and just a pretty idol drama. it feels like all its "personality" is in having a beautiful cast. the plot was interesting at first, but then the directors made everything more complex than it should've been, and not explaining better the politics didn't aid the almost impossible quest of liking it...
honestly? you know my potential, but your petty ass can't accept me in your company (in the name of doing this for my wellbeing, btw)? no worries, I'll make sure to get hired from your competitirs and make your life a living hell.
it’s dull now? so is it pretty slow around tf at point?
well, i appreciated very much that she didn't have a “secret identity” due to her memory loss: the ml knew who she was and didn't lie to her. the amnesia arc lasted way less than expected, so i didn't feel like it was dragging. i dont like that you know basically from the start who's the antagonist, it takes away all the mystery they wanna convey. the rest of the plot was just annoying, with the exception of some of the scenes with the fl, ning fei and weiran (those were pretty much emotional, especially around ep13). i cant find many moments between the main leads as lovely as they should be, because i cant feel much from the fl's acting. some subplots, like the emperor's illness, are so predictable... so no, it doesn't start gettng slow around ep18, but it's the whole narration that is off for me

I'll be honest and say that I didn't catch the last part of what you said... still, if you're asking if it's dull, it kinda is to me. I'll put it on hold for now and maybe I'll pick it up again someday
I've read that the separation arc lasts 9 episodes. i hate when the protagonists are forced apart (even if it's their own decision); do y'all think it's alright to skip those episodes (and read recaps online) or is it worthy it to pain myself through them?
I'm at ep13 and I still don't understand something: are both xie yong'er and prince duan characters that, according to the book, transmigrated – although in reality that is not the case and they're still 2d? or is prince duan a real transmigrated person like the main leads?
after episode 26 things just started getting dragged out for no reason. the acting also became uselessly excessive. and leopard speaking that broken english really was the cherry on top. I rated it a solid 9 from the start, but now it doesn't go beyond 6.5/7... such a shame
I AM SO ANGRY AT THE ENDING!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY'VE SURVIVED THE WORST TREACHEROUS WAR BUT HE AND WEN JI AND LU JI DIED IN A NAMELESS AND WORTHLESS WAR?!?! cause you can't tell me he didn't die when the last scene was so dreamy, he was probably imagining to reunite with her briefly before dying... THAT'S SO WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS
I don't understand why they keep bringing up that her personality is different since her return... I mean, WE know she's not the real Jiang Li, but they don't; they haven't seen her for 10 years and she was eight when she was sent away. seems kinda normal to me that she's changed
this is trash.
