Lol, you know I love to hate on this show about how it changes direction half way through. But I started watching it again because of Shen Li.
First half is actually very good.

fell into a stupor while trying to recall a PA scene where I could describe ZLY as little 16 yr old girl. "Yu Wen Yue" was supposed to be 20 but both of them looked like they are well into 30s.

Her story from the time being sold and up to her getting freedom documents is the only watchable/excellent part. The rest of it is like 3 or 4 different (bad) films.

Worst part of the film is ZLY having conversation with stupid CGI bird.

Yeah story is definitely just a backdrop to Main Leads courting. But I think it's done very well, ends well and generally an easy watch. Although judging by some replies rephrasing the last sentence would not have helped.

You're actually better off if you didn't read the novel, didn't watch anime or S1. At least you won't be hindered by expectations.

1) Your usage of "He also used cigarettes" indicates you might not be familiar with phrase "and they are taking our jobs". It usually follows some blanket statement about a group of people.
I'm not Chinese, feel free to make blanket statements about them/their culture or call them "cancer" as much as you like.


2) Issue with 2 people you mention is not their age or academic accolades, but the fact that your sample size is 2.
I too have no interest to play the "I know Chinese people" game, let's move on.

Cheap & convinient access to internet made it easier for all people to get involved in discussions whether positive or negative.

Now, you can offend billions of people while drinking a coffee and replying to comments popping up on your phone.
Effortless. I don't know if it's still the case, but this type of pastime was usually associated with kids and it's unreasonable to expect rational/mature behaviour from these people.


Again, I think money will be the reason.

I said it was all about the money.

First, "The Clause"

1) This "clause/rule/advisory" comes from agencies and is there because of money.
Mainly about potential to earn money and potential to lose money.

2) State sets expectation to set a good example to the people.
I am aware of only a few terms, but stars staying single is definitely not on the list.
Having government regulations like that is a different discussion.
I'll just touch on : "after that, they just do whatever"
Statement like that would actually suggestion that it's western stars " are put on the pedestal"
Anyway, not a month passed in the last few years where some western celebrity was not apoligizing or denying some rumours.
Not "whatever" anyway. Generally the amount of talent available allows industry to not suffer much, when someone decides to be "special".
And government does not invest too much into actor's brand to have to tolerate their "genius".

It does affect studios, agencies and fellow stars.
So, if there is even a hint of something going wrong he/she would be told without waiting decades to surface.


3) Perfume example was just an illustration that it could affect purchasing decision.
Others on the contrary will buy it because of that like: "... mmm he is married too... we are so bad".
At the end of the day it depends on numbers and it looks like celebs that appear "available" - bring more money than those that don't.
Which seems reasonable - if you are in business of selling fantasies why make it harder for your target audience.
If a celebrity has 10M fans 0.01% of those drop off, it's 10K people not buying products, not watching shows, and generally disengaged.
They don't have to be crazy.
They can even be very happy for you.
You didn’t become worse looking.
It's just that you no longer fit their emotional requirements/expectations.

Second, "same kind of toxicity"

1) I don't see any "kind" of fan toxicity peculiar to c-netizens.
Just googled it very quickly, but it's the same things I read during 4 stages of Depp&Heard relationship.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
Interesting that Chinese government is trying to remove ranking features from sites because rival fans are causing discord.
Nothing about jail time for cyber-stalking/harassment like we have in EU (we had it since at least 2010)
Lol, I thought they had very strict regulations of internet access.
Anyway, as far as "kinds" I see nothing special.

I do remember people from Germany traveling to Ireland just to see "Kelly Family" house and camping outside the gate. So, maybe in the west interest in celebrities' business died out while in the east it's just picking up.
That said, celeb news oriented magazines are still very popular in UK & Ireland especially those for young teens.

I thought avoiding relationships rule is more to do with Studios and Agencies rather than the State. State does require popular personalities to set a good example for everyone. Like stay in shape, don't do drugs or stupid stuff. Otherwise, be yourself by yourself somewhere else.
Which, I think, is fair enough. Does sleeping around having kids out of wedlock, divorce, etc., fall under stupid stuff? Probably.

Top actors are in like 5 or 6 films per year so a lot depends on them being "proper".

Also, if marital status affects their popularity and ability to sell endorsed products then it's something that would be taken seriously.

There could be many reasons. Say your favourite actor in a perfume comercial. Director tried to create an experience for you.
Like it's you who is dancing with him, he kisses you, I can't f. remember what these look like now; anyway he showers you in perfume.
So it's all about you the whole time. Positive experience.
And then you remember oh he's married and she is probably standing behind you right now. Or he had 3 girlfriends last year and he's been to an STD clinic. Some would find it off putting. And next time you see Ralph Lauren perfume you will remember a positive experience which was spoiled by his wife staring at you. So his endorsement might not be as good as expected.

I loved him in The Legends but couldn't watch him in Untamed. Obviously it could be characters that are played but it could be casting for the role too. Bad acting is usually bad directing. Here if you feel she fits the role well to help him act better-then "great casting" gets an extra point.

They are flirting for most of the season. There's no major love between them until she "dies".
