Nah, the manga is much weaker and more 08/15... adding the diary to the whole story improved it and removing the 08/15 school bullying did concentrate the story of just the two MLs. Especially because JBLs are mostly 10 episodes or less, so it was important to cut off some things to have a compact story. Of course we would not mind if they had also 12 episodes but....

Oddly....I Don't agree with the ending....i think clearing the air and being with his "friend" and Higiwara coming…
It's a blend between BL and queer drama... but they needed some BL elements :)

That's ok... and it depends on the novel... sometimes less is more... see "Our Youth" were there was cut a lot but also added a layer which made show much better compared to the novel.
