OMG is that bad...

Oh there was a korean show I almost forgot and God why did I not forget it completly?

Police shirts with "security" on the back and "police" on the front with a name tag and on the side some emblem. But did they sew them on? Nope, looks like some glue was all they had or so... The background music is like in a p0rn, where what you see, does not match what you hear. Just some music, so we have it.

Luckily this shit is only on iQIYI but I doubt many will like it. Why did they spent money on this? SeekMedia has no taste, no vision and of course not a good script at all but tons of dubious nc-scenes. This series is a disgrace for Korea. So, if you stumble on it, make a huge detour and never ever press play!

Something different from GMMTV...

Sometimes there is a mircale and GMMTV does take a risk and does something different. The first couple Kant & Bison did not catch most of the viewers, because it was not a romantic meeting of two persons. Kant did approach Bison for a reason, because he had a deal with the police and he wanted to clear his name. While Bison was fully in it from the beginning, Kant was just a calculating bastard :) The other couple if different. While Style did it first to get a car and help Kant, he pursued Fadel on his own after a while. Something klicked and he did forget the car and was serious for a change.

I would say Khaotung delivered a top notch performance, while First was mostly solid. Joong did the most usual as in any other show (starting off distant) and Dunk was much improved even when his over-acting sometimes was annoying and cringe. But this is only from the view of their relationsships. As hitmen they did not deliver at all.

Other than that, the story of the "Mom" was a bit shallow and not very indepth. It was over in an episode and I don't know I felt underwhelmed. The rest was ok, production quality was, as usual, excellent. Other than that I had not much connection to the whole show... something felt a bit off. I can't explain it, but I was not really in it. For me it was ok, the NC scenes were of course what the fangirls expected and they did not disappoint. Some people will of course tell you, that this is the best show ever, but of course, it's not. I guess lazy writing prevails which is typically in GMMTV tradtion. It's ok and GMMTV did take a risk, but I guess it payed off. At least for the actors it was a good development not playing the same stuff all over again, which I think is positive, but the story itself is lacking.

Edit: Also the tattoos are lacking... especially when you compare with people with real tattoos, so that was also a cost optimizing option to use foils instead painting.

Cute but cliché

Rich boy meets girl at school, has no guts to tell her about his feelings and has to move.
He comes back, still has the love for this girl and this time he gets his girl.
That's the short version of this plot. It has not much substance and the end is more disappointing then I excpected otherwise it was enjoyable to watch. Why does a woman has to follow the man? Some minutes before she told him, she could not follow him because she still has dreams, but I guess she fulfilled them? We have no clue.

One side couple has an arc, the second side couple is much too short to know what has happend in their past. And then there is a poor loner who only gets the misery if one of his friends is in a slump.

I'm not a fan if actors have to play their version 10 years ago, it brakes the believability. So to have similar but younger cast for such scenes would have been much better. Overall it puts a smile on your face watching it even with such a weak plot. So for me it's a bit above average because the acting was very good.

Cinematography at it's best...

First, I don't know any of the actors nor did I know about this show. I just was intrigued by the title. I expected some family with power working out of the shadows and it did not disappoint. For sure this is not an action series and that's what I like. It's slowly building up, detailing every nuance of all the characters in it. It looks mostly emotionless but it isn't. It's all very subtle and hidden but it's there. The normal family struggles with affairs and enstranged father/son/daughter relationships are depicted in detail while telling a story about a political power struggle at the highest level. I hope they will continue this story with a second season because ending on a cliff-hanger is not really my cup of tea.
Overall this series seems to be made for a niche of people who do enjoy artistic cinematography, slow character building and story telling, which is diametral of how fast our society lives now. And I think, that's a good thing!

wholesome and fluffy, but not stupid...

Don't know why some are disapointed by this show.

It was nicely done, had a very nice catchy song and they acted all cute and very well.
Of course is hasn't that much drama, but the writing is not cringy like most thai shows. All is well balanced with lot's of fluffy scenes and some character progression.
The only slightly negative part are stereotypical "bad" parents, but in an asian culture that is more common compared to the "west" and understandable.

All in all, if you want to have a show which has a more light story with fluffy scenes tastefully done, I can recommand this show.

A cute ghost story...

I'm not a fan of vertical dramas (especially if I would watch them 2 minutes a day), but thankfully some fans stich them together and give them proper subtitles. So I was a bit surprised to find this show on youtube. But as it is, you may be need to be fast, otherwise it might disappear without you having a chance to watch it.

Ritsu is a loner and moves to his grandmas house, but as it happens, she got on an oversee trip a day before and he is alone again. Thankfully Nagi appears, a ghost and a friend of his childhood days who he has forgotten about.

I would characterize this "movie" as a coming of age story. It's a bit comedic, a bit drama and also a bit serious but not taking itself too serious. So it was quite fun to watch. It's nothing grand, but again compared to the high budget thai crap, I would take such a show ten times over. Should you have the time (around 50 minutes) or not know what to watch, this is not a bad choice. Also when coming from a toxic show, this is a perfect palete cleanser!
