Have you watched the Chinese version (meteor garden)? It annoyed me so much. Only the Thai version was quite good. They fixed this story a little bit I guess. But I don't know the original story of manga yet. May be it is similar to korean version.

i cant possibly be the only one who thought nam do san was infinitely better than HJP right?
Do san loved her so much. he was the one for her. But director shouldn't have made people think HJP was the ML in first episode. First ep was quite emotional but after that ep people became disappointed because ML was not the guy they thought he would be.
