She knows all about the sacrifices. Unless they decide to adapt it differently, MJ knows what CY has done for her, how he raised and looked after her throughout high school, how he wanted to send her away from Tengcheng, and how he financially supported her through university.
But I don't know if people can really see or understand things from MJ's perspective. MJ is incredibly grateful. But she doesn't want any of it. She doesn't want CY working himself to the bone for her, which is why she works hard for the scholarship. She doesn't want to move away from home i.e. from CY. She doesn't want his money.
CY has sacrificed so much for MJ. He wants the absolute best for her. He thinks she deserves more than Tengcheng, that he's holding her back, that his life and his circumstances will only taint her future. And if I were CY, I'd probably do the same.
But at the same time,,, is that what MJ wants? Is she happy with the choice he made for her? She isn't. CY thinks it's best for MJ to leave him and this hometown. MJ, on the other hand, just wants to be with CY. She doesn't care if he has nothing, or if they have nothing. She doesn't care if his life is a mess. She didn't care back then, and she still doesn't care now. She just wants him.

I'm not disappointed at all as a fan of the novel. I love both versions of CY. Admittedly I miss 'listening' to CY swearing and all but it's oki I can just go back and read the novel 😂 I think they do a great job adapting the novel. Perfect casting!

Can someone explain - editing feels too rough - esp the one after a fire. Did they have to cut more filmed material…
I don't think they had to cut it out but it was how it was written. The editing/time jump did seem very rush. They prolly want to save the fire for a future episode with flashback explaining why both separated etc. In the novel life carries on after the fire until MJ graduates and leaves for uni.

I hope everybody knows MJ has a reason for being like this. CY cut contact and actually goes MIA for a couple years thus MJ believes he's been hiding things from her and she just wants to know what's he been through. We'll find out why at some point I hope?

Anyhow yay back to the present. Bit of a fast time jump but I guess they want to save it for later. I love the present Miao Jing. Love it. The drama version keeps MJ very close to the novel. And MJ is sooo pretty 💓😭 I remember reading some comments that CY is the one who sacrifices it all whilst MJ doesn't. Well the time has come. MJ is coming back to provide for CY 🔥😭 She'll drag him out of the darkness and they will heal each other again!!!
Awww the kiss is so sweet. I love every bit of it. You can feel the yearning, lil bit of clumsiness, the nervousness of the first kiss. My heart was beating soooo fast watching the kiss haha 🙈 The after-kiss with them blushing and cooling down with the ice-cream was cuteee.
I can't remember the last drama I've waited every day for new episode to come out like this. And rewatching whilst counting down hours for the next episode. The struggle is real 😭😭
